Description
The former name was brewery De Brouwketel, which was in operation at the current location at least from 1706 onwards. In 1884 the brewery became the property of the Duysters family. In 1968 the company was transformed into Duysters NV (limited liability company) which was active as a brewery until 1973.
The Loterbol brewpub started in 1995 in a renovated part of the brewery from the 18th century. in 2002 brewing started in the old brewery building of 1908. Both locations are still used for brewing.

33cl bottle @ DHVL. Pours dark brown with a large fluffy and creamy white foam and lacings. Taste is rotten vegetables - probably the yeast. Caramel, earth and something which reminds me of smoke. Quite rotten and bad.

2006 vintage. Pours brown with tan head. The aroma is amazing and big with sweetness coming from caramel, brown sugar, berry goodness, sweet apples, sugar coated prunes and cherries. Wow, all blended together to the point of smelling silky smooth if that is at all possible. The taste is sweet to start with brown sugar mixing with Belgian dark candi sugar, prunes, plums and slightly bright berry notes. Nice. It seems to also have vaguely muted tart notes too.

(33cl bottle) Hazy, amber coloured hue with many nasty and ugly floaties and a mid-sized, slightly tanned foamy head. Sweet and yeasty, slightly toasted malty aroma with notes of candy and a vinous fruity touch. Light-sweet flavour with a tinge of acidity, light to medium bodied with a fizzy carbonation. Dusty-yeasty, minimal toasted malty and slightly fruity taste; finishes slightly fruity and fizzy with a touch of vinegar. Not a pleasure (23.III.09).

Bottle, 8%. Citric and bready aroma. Cloudy yellow colour. The flavour is bready, but not too bad, citric and vinous. Rough bitterness, also lemony. All in all actually not too bad.
