Description
The first references to a brewery in the Weltenburg Monastery are to be found in the Weltenburg Nekrologium, in which it states that the master brewer died. Another scientifically recognized source is a recorded entry in the “Libellus Traditionum”, which is over 900 years old, and which dates from shortly before or after 1050.
In the barely millennium to the present day, monastic beer production in Weltenburg was only interrupted by the secularization from 1803 to 1846. In 1846 the brewery became monastery property again, and it has remained there to this day. The Weltenburg monastery brewery can therefore rightly be called the oldest monastery brewery in the world.

500ml bottle - Pours clear yellow with a one finger head. There’s a citrus hops aroma. It tastes sweet and fruity. Medium bodied, easy drinking and refreshing, I thought this beer was a very good session brew.

Pours a very light, hazy gold witha large, fluffy white head. Aroma of spicey wheat, malt, lemony citrus, yeast, and some banana. Mild flavor compared to the aroma. Spices, wheat, some yeast, lemon, and banana. Medium body. It’s a hefe, not much else to say.

This beer was far more of a bock than a Vienna to me. Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bronze color with a small yellow-tan head. The aroma was sweet, malty, tangy and lightly vegetal. The flavor was sweet, rich, tangy with a vegetal element and light molasses and fruity hops.

Bottled at Löwenbräu, Stockholm. Muddy orange/brown., rich creamy head. Rich banana aroma. Sweet and caramlly. Medium bodied with flavour of ripe banana, rounded spritzy mouthfeel. The flavours vanish quickly, leaving me with an empty finish.
