2/II/19 - sample @ Brugs Bierfestival, BB: n/a - (2019-177) Thanks to the Belgian ratebeer crew for sharing todays' beers!
Clear deep ruby red beer, small light pink head, bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: very yeasty, veal meat, pretty dirty, weird, diacetyl notes. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: sourish, cherries, alcohol, more acidic, tannins. Aftertaste: sour, dirty, tannins, some chlorine, malty, dirty finish. Don't like this one.
Nice, well balanced, whisky malts...

330ml bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck. Pours as black as black can be, foamy tan topping. Aroma is strong, sweet, dark malt. Taste sees the same but with a welcoming smoky leathery dimension, light berry sweetness, strengthening dark malts underpinning things. Yeah it's very good.

24 November 2018. 5de Winters Bierfestival Waregem. Deputy Taster: Anke. Hazy dark brown with a lasting, small, frothy, tan head; irregular lacing. Aroma of candied orange, caramel, cookie dough, plum, milk chocolate, syrup, green tea. Taste is light to medium malty sweet, quite fruity, (candied) orange & plum with some dough & caramel; turning light to medium herbal bitter, cinnamon & faint clove, tea-like, tad lemony sour. Dry, herbal hoppy finish, faint caramel & plum but ultimately the bitterness prevails with tea & orange peel notes; plus a dash of warming liqueur alcohol. Medium body, slick/oily texture, soft carbonation. Perhaps this could do with some ageing to balance out the rougher bitter edges.

Pours black, creamy, dense, stable mocha head. Smell is intense, 'gappekes'. Taste is very full, roasty, full bodied, heavy burnt, ashy. Gappekes. Not great to me, but that's I suppose a matter of personal taste. Full bodied, and for once, not extremely overcarbonated. Nice beer, but not for me.
