Can on 8th February 2022 in Vino Carta Solana. Nice easy drinking Kölsch, clean and clear light golden body, white crown on top. Mild grainy/malty flavours play with some mini-hop action.

Shaker pint draft at The Old Pro in Palo Alto, California. The pour is a hazy copper, golden, orange with a small white head with nice lace falling behind. The aroma is citrus, pine and earth. The taste is a nice blend of lime orange citrus, pine and general bitterness. The palate is medium bodied, soft carbonation and the pine softly bitter finish. Solid IPA.

Can from Bine & Vine. Pours translucent gold with a moderate foamy white head. Aroma is light, seems tropical. Med body. Flavor is tropical and the intensity belies the light aroma. Flavor is citrus, melon, passion fruit and light, pale caramel. Not dry. Moderately bitter. Decent drink.

On tap at The Front pith in San Francisco, California. Medium gold pour. Small white head. Light, grainy malt aroma. Flavor mirrors nose. Soft citrus notes with a hint of honey and cut grass. Light bodied with clean, crisp finish.

Can. Very clear golden amber with a modest white head. Aroma of pineapple, pine needles, mandarin, grapefruit, light bread. Clean to the point of anonymity. A very little bready sweetness underpins fruity and bright piney hops before a solid bitter finish.

Can. Clear deep gold with a white head that fades to a coat. 3+ Aroma of caramelised oranges, peach, some pine. Sweet with gentle citrus but the pine gradually imposes itself towards the moderately bitter finish and really makes the beer. Fair enough.

A strange is a traditional Kolsch glass used in Köln. Fort Point KSA Kölsch 5% Nice looking gold with a thick off-white foam that didn’t linger. The aroma was floral and herbal with underlying grainy notes plus some fruity grape. The taste starts off sweet and somewhat fruity before a raspy carbonation brings in the malt base.

Can. Pours a clear, pale gold with a thick head. Floral, herbal, citrusy nose. Some resiny pine, some lemon, menthol. Nice, noble nose. Starts out a bit sweet and fruity in the flavor, resinous, herbal, lemon, with very crisp malt. Nice lingering malt, crackers, herbs, with a crisp bitterness that is not at all intrusive or acerbic. Like this a lot. Great example of the style, I would say. Super refreshing and summery. Bitterness and attenuation are quite in line with a Northern German pils, although the dry hopping brings the nose out hugely, and there is more hop flavor as well.
