Description
Alaska has a rich history of brewing. From the explorers of the 1700s through the Gold Rush, many a thirsty Alaskan has been able to enjoy locally made beers.

In 1986, 28-year-olds Marcy and Geoff Larson reignited that tradition when they opened the Alaskan Brewing Company, the 67th independent brewery in the country and the first brewery in Juneau since Prohibition. Alaskan beers reflect many of the same characteristics of beers that were brewed here during the gold rush era. From the historically based Alaskan Amber recipe to alder-smoked malts and Sitka spruce tips, Alaskan beers reflect Juneau’s local brewing history and innovation.

Smoke and roast. Pretty good balance. As an old school top beer, not sure it holds up to newer examples of the style, but it's decent. Black pour with decent head and lacing. Bittersweet finish. Bottle.

I have a 22 oz bottle of 35th Anniversary Ale that I acquired a few months ago at Mr. T's locally. The weather is amenable towards a sampling of an imperial stout. My tastings tonight will be with an ABGB tulip glass taken out of the inventory. I observe a brown-black body completed by a head of tawny brown foam. The nose is tobacco, chocolate and earth. And the taste starts with some ash, then dark chocolate, a bit of sweetness from the honey I assume, malt, an amount of hoppiness and wood. Rather bitter. Not bad but not rocking my world.

Some florals and a little lime. Not a ton of character. Golden pour with decent head. Light sweet finish, pretty clean on the end. Can.

(Bottle) (2022) bright, dark brown colour with a small brown head; aroma of smoke, prunes, vanilla; rich, balanced flavour with a long, light bitter finish; very tasty, my favourite beer from this brewery

clear reddish amber colour, medium sized creamy beige-ish ecru head, which lasts for several minutes; aroma of very intensive fruitiness (prune, sour cherry, raspberry, some apple and even grape), some honey and roasted nutty notes; taste is similar to the aroma with some roasted bittery notes; not bad at all

12oz can. Unapologetically candy/sugar centered. Fruit syrup will do that. Pretty boring stuff...I thought it was an IPA when I bought it for some reason. Drinkable, but besides the artificial guava and passionfruit flavor, nothing too commendable.
