On tap at flying saucer. Pours a dark ruby with a small frothy white that diminishes quickly. The aroma is a sweet fruit amd cherry. Thin mouthfeel with a tart flavor with fruit and nice sour finish. Easy to drink, a good sour ale from Timmermans.

Huge, cream to mossy coloured, very dense & fine head over cola-coloured beer with a mossy sheen. Sweet-sourish, nutmeg, lactic acid. Sweet, lactic but no sourness, wood, but a little impression of artificial sweetener. Warming up, this turns into a bit syrupy sweet soy sauce flavour. Very slick, sticky, but nice palate. Not a patch on the former Oud Bruin (oh, how we mourn the Sirius of yore...), but even this new Brune is palatable.Earlier Rating: 10/18/2003 Total Score: 3.6Huge brown creamy head, collapsing to beautiful (Flemish) lace; dark red-chestnut beer, clear. Nose with wood, some sweet malts, molasses, vinous. Sweet taste, fruity, sweet preserved cherries or plums; woody, oak, ironoxide - even some blood-like flavour. Sweetness tastes artificial somehow. Medium bodied. Tannines, but restrained, not leading to any tartness. Not very convincing Oud Bruin. Lambic-based beer should yield some interesting features, but artifical tasting sweetness seems to be the only one. May the Van Outryve's turn in their graves!

Bottled. Tangy aroma with fruits, cherry, nice. Bright glowing red in dark brown with lace. Tangy flavor with caramel and cherry, chocolate. Not super complex, and a bit too sweet. Nice enough, though not in the top ranks of its style. Smooth and soft. Not really acetic, but it shows a touch of cream or yogurt.

25 cL bottle. Pours deep brown/amber with a dense light brown head. Mellow caramel malty and slight fruity. Flavour is slight sour and sweet malty. Seems a bit out of balance. Ends mixed sweet and sour, but only mildly sour. Nice though.

clear brown, small smooth offwhite head. nice aroma, slightly vineous, some wood, delicate. very good aroma. flavor is slightly sourish/flowery/tart, caramelly, extremely smooth, lots of flavor for a 5% and it tastes real good. a little too much sugar perhaps. the flowery sourish faint note really balances the beer very well.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a clear orangey brown with a small off-white head. Tart cherry aroma - quite yummy. Medium body, very sweet roasted malts, a discreet tartness, woody and metallic - clearly some Bourgogne has been blended with another beer here. Ends sweet. 280710

(Bottle 25 cl) I was expecting a reddish brown beer with a sharp acidic touch. But what found was rather full-bodied, sweetish and malty - almost like Danish "hvidtøl". And although I do detect some slightly tart notes, they’re far from aggressive. A very mellow, pleasant sour ale. 080195

Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a huge brown head. The aroma has notes of malt, fruits, and nuts, as well as lighter notes of brettanomyces. The flavor is malt, alcohol, wood, fruits, and metal, as well as lighter notes of brettanomyces, leading to a tart woody finish.

A deep red beer with no head. The aroma is slightly sweet and sharp. The flavor is very round, very sweet, and slighlty acidic with notes of berries. A fine flavor but not anything special. OK beer - but my exspectation was higher.

Bottle in Delirium. Dark brown pour with a white/beige head. Lightly berry fruit; mildly sweet. Drinks pretty well. Not very exciting though.

Tap at Cambrinus in Brugge. Very dark color - garnet when held to the light. Lacing light tan head. Near medium body. Very mild carbonation. It’s sour, but it’s not. It’s smooth. Aroma has a hint of sour. It’s almost like drinking lightly sour cherry - though kriek it’s not. Very refreshing. Cambrinus is pushing this one. Maybe they like it.
