Description

Bottle: deep golden coloured, hazy; thin fluffy head, rapidly vanishing; sweet malty (toffee) nose; mild, slightly creamy; the cloyingly malty taste swings over to a slightly bitter-sweet finish; lacks the hoppiness of a true Kellerbier.......

Bottle. Aroma of baking yeast. Cloudy, dark golden colour. Semi-sweet, hint of citrus. Reminds me a bit of a hefe-weizen.

Test vom 9.3.2005, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,9,9,13,11,11 - 10,80

Beautiful clear (horse)chestnut beer; slightly irregular yellowish-cream head, leaving little, fine lace. Very vague pine nose - as a distant pineforest in the coastal area. Bit of cookie malt, all very vague. Just great flavour - again a little pine, some spices, sandlewood. bitterish - hops and quite woody in character, resinous, Angostura, and raw pipe tobacco. This is truly gorgeous, and very difficult to describe; layered as an onion in depths (plural). Refreshing - unbelievable for a beer with such depths, usually this kind of aroma’s come from high-alcohol beers, barrel aged for unreasonable lengths. Long bitterish-aromatic aftertaste. Nat & Jim, I really see why you love this stuff, thanks for sharing. Superb, complex beer, defying description.

A clear red beer with a fine head. The aroma is sweet roasted bread - quite an inviting aroma. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted bread and hints of smoke. The mouthfeel is very soft. Quite a good beer.

Somewhat spongy malt aroma with some bittering hops. Greenish golden, low fluffy lacing white head. Sweet crackermalt topped off with a bit bittering hops, light body - nothing exiting. Light bitterhop finish.

Easy to drink, like a pilsener. Description says it to be a Dunkel, but as i drank from the bottle i couldn't get that right.
