Pint on tap at the Sussex Arms, Brighton. Jet black beer with thin bubbly white head. Some patchy lacing. Strong aroma of dark chocolate and coffee. Taste follows the nose with some fruit and liquorice in the finish. Sweet and light makes it easy to drink.

Pint on tap at The Ginger Fox, West Sussex. Bronze beer with thin film of suds on top. Zero nose. A few bubbles ascend. Patchy lacing. Slight effervescence makes it easy to drink. Finish is hoppy, malty and drying. Looks ordinary, smells of nothing, but nice taste and great finish.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson's Green, London, 25 Nov 2017) Black colour with frothy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of chocolate, coffee, liquorice and black-currant. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, chocolate, liquorice and a balanced roasty bitterness. Medium body, with a balanced sweetness. Really tasty and well made porter. Very nice.

Cask at Eastbourne Beer Festival. Not a bad tasting beer but a strange silky metallic feeling to it. Usual long man taste, very inconsistent brewery... Re-rated, bottle at The Dolphin, Eastbourne. A pretty unremarkable english style IPA. 2.5 to 3.

1/2 Pint Cask @ The Rake. Lightly hazy orange, white head. Nose is soggy cereal, milky, soapy grain. Taste is poor milky grain, sweet, butter, cereal, body is the same, quite weak and not very American.
