Description
Two brewers, Jean-Yves Nauroy (42 years old, from Lorraine, saxophonist, bearded fisherman, dad and now brewer) and Régis Barth (38 years old, from Lorraine, scribe, grumbler, all fired up, dad and now brewer) welcome you in their brewery installed at the back of the barn in May 2005, self-financed, tinkered with, adapted and assembled by them.

Most of it consists of adapted, salvaged or second-hand equipment. Since July 1, 2007, they have been renovating an old barn and stable in the village of Revermont Jura, La Ferté. They started brewing there in June 2008 with the aim of increasing production to a livable level, ie 300 hl per year or 3,500 bottles to be marketed per month.

750ml bottle. Smooth, floral and slightly funky with some bretta, farmyard, leather, citrus and earthiness. Okay, quite soft and funky.

Bottle @ Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Pours light hazy golden yellow with a medium white head. Aromas of sweet pears, oak, walnuts, curry, citrus, grapes, esters. Taste has that classic vin jaune walnutty, sherry-like oakiness, curry, sweet pears, green apples, green grapes, esters, subtle tartness in the back. Such an interesting barrel treatment.

Bottle at Moeder Lambic - Brussels. Pours lightly hazy gold with a small, tight, creamy white head. Not bad overall, some ripening citrus, husky straw, soft yeast expression, wheat. Medium bodied with subtle carboantion. Moderate sweetness in the finish, more wheat bread, ripe citrus, melon. Tasty enough.

(750ml bottle shared @ Moeder Fontainas, Apr 30/18, thanks Matt!) Pours murky dark gold with a small white head. Notes of raw slick grainy wort, cereal, wood, soft nuts, bitter grassy medicinal herbs. Softly sweet and towards moderately bitter. Rather thin in the mouth without much carbonation. I had no idea this was vin jaune-aged when I tried it and honestly it just seemed like an off bottle even then, without knowing that people tended to love this. A shame seeing the feedback here, as it just was not a particularly enjoyable beer as a result.
