Description
Cider done right. That means delicious West Country cider made from fresh apple juice, using the best locally-sourced apples. Founded in 2002, we are independent, family-owned and very proud to be based in the oldest working cider mill in the UK, breathing life back into the old building. Our home in the heart of Devon is the perfect micro-climate to grow cider apples and we are blessed with some of the finest bittersweet apple orchards in the world. We press and ferment whole juice from the finest locally sourced fruit, never from concentrate. No artificial flavours or aromas, simply the best natural ingredients, and then let it age to perfection. No shortcuts. The result? Delicious, beautifully balanced and naturally refreshing cider.

Bottle shared in Hackney - many thanks to Fergus. Pours crystal clear, light yellow with a slim, white head. Some sugary green apples in the nose. Medium to big sweet flavour, somewhat sugary, with nips of dough, lemon, a touch of bitter peel. Medium bodied with soft, massaging carbonation. Sugary finish, a little sticky sweet, with semi-ripe apples, more mild bitter peel, doughy white bread. Pretty basic, but enjoyable.

Bag-in-a-box from the producer's own stall at the Dartmouth Food Festival. Cloudy yellow. Dryish up front with some barnyard funk. Gets a little sweeter with an apple skin flavour as you drink more. Little depth to it but quite pleasantly drinkable and refreshing. Ok cider overall.

Bottle from the brewer's own stall at the Dartmouth Food Festival. Orangey-gold in hue. Sweet but not too sweet. Fresh eating apple taste with a hint of mellow oak behind. Has a pleasing light sparkle of fizz that really lifts the drink and stops it being too sweet. Easy-drinking, but tasty and enjoyable.

Bottled at SBWF. Clear golden/amber, still. Fruity medicinal nose. Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Chalky and peppery, fruity and syrupy. Disharmonious burning sweetness. Medicinal finish.

Box @ Percy Shaw, Halifax. Pale golden, crisp cider with some fruitiness. Its ginger dominates things, but is fairly light.

500ml bottle. Sparkling golden colour, short-lived fizzy white foam head and aroma of tangy apple. Taste is apple, fruity, some tartness, with light wood and drying tannins. Light to medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, dry finish. Quite OK.

Keg at BrewDog Leicester. Nagham ordered it and seemed to swiftly regret it. Let’s see for myself: Golden, clear and sparkly. A bit of a ring of head. Nice yeasty apply aroma, pleasant but doesnt really evolve into anything more exciting. Taste is disappointing. Sweetish sour and a touch sickly. Short finish with apple strudel notes. Grows on me but ultimately not up to much.

Bottle at home. Pours hazy gold with quickly dissipating white head. Aroma of apple skins & light funk. Taste is bittersweet apples, slightly floral, gentle dry finish. Light body with reasonable carbonation. A decent, refreshing drop.
