Description
Cider done right. That means delicious West Country cider made from fresh apple juice, using the best locally-sourced apples. Founded in 2002, we are independent, family-owned and very proud to be based in the oldest working cider mill in the UK, breathing life back into the old building. Our home in the heart of Devon is the perfect micro-climate to grow cider apples and we are blessed with some of the finest bittersweet apple orchards in the world. We press and ferment whole juice from the finest locally sourced fruit, never from concentrate. No artificial flavours or aromas, simply the best natural ingredients, and then let it age to perfection. No shortcuts. The result? Delicious, beautifully balanced and naturally refreshing cider.

Bottled at oh6gdx’s birthday bash at chriso’s. Clear golden. Rich aroma of rip red apples. Mid sweet with medium body. Soft and gently sparkling with rich, deep flavour of mature appless. A citric touch of apple skins, marked tanninic bitterness. Really good!

50cl bottle, thanks to Tom. Pours a very pale amber/golden with steady bubbles and no head. The nose is apples, but not very intense. The taste is like a red eating apple and is slightly off-dry I think. The palate has a good structure for the alcohol level and it has a typically long, tangy cider finish.Overall, a good cider.

50cl bottle thanks to Tom. Pours an amazing damson colour - reddish-orange with shades of yellow and it’s definitely opaque. No bubble and no head. When the remainder of the glass was poured, it was a muddy colour and it didn’t clear. The nose is very much sour apple, not quite cider vinegar but there are hints of it. The taste has more extreme sourness, definitely into cider vinegar this time, then it delivers some sweet apple at the end. The palate is very much like a good lambic beer - tight and concentrated but very long. Overall, this appears to be genuine traditional scrumpy, so sour you have to be in the mood for it.
