Bourbon barrel version in a bottle at the mondiale 2014. Dark, murky brown pour, big beige head. Huge oaky aroma, lots of brown sugar, and earthy wood. The bouron makes a small presence in the way of a spicy sweetness. The malts are super sweet, and caramelly. The body is thick and luscious, and the carb is very soft. The beer is overall quite sweet, and earthy. Low bitter finish, loads of bready sweet malts, lots of almost burnt brown suagr, and some roasty malts. This is a big beer, mloats going on very complex, a great example of how a barrel beer should taste,

330mL bottle On tap at Santa Therezinha, pours a deep dark amber mahogany with a huge beige head. Aroma reveals plenty of caramel, bready malt, and some dark dried fruits. Flavour is very malty, with plenty of toasted caramel, bready malt, and some dried fruits. The carbonation is higher than it should be, but not too detractingly so. Decent scotch ale.

Flat, amber-brown. Rich toffee malt aroma, dark sugars and sherry. Similar palate, also with lots of raisins and a big woody finish. That barrel rounds it out so it’s as tannic in the finish as it is sweet. An experiment worth trying, even if pushes the definition of beer a little bit. Alcohol only shows right at the end.
