Interesting. Some port like notes but it has a pleasant tartness to it.

Vintage from the eighties, tasted at 20 years of age. One of the last of an old league of classic English old ales and barley wines, deep burgundy colour, no head anymore after all those years, very complex aroma, rich and reminiscent of dried apricot, balsamic vinegar, liquorice and dry sherry. Low carbonation, dried fruits, sweet chocolatey malts and the obvious oxidized taste of an old beer, but in a noble, old madera kind of way, vinous mouthfeel. You have to like old beer to enjoy this, that’s for sure, so something like this will not be to anyone’s liking, but I enjoyed the experience very much. Should taste this as a young beer too. A true world classic from a bygone era.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin. Thanks zvikar. Bad cork, broke while opening the bottle. Hazy dark orange. Aroma of vinegar and fruits. Sourish flavor with vinegar, fruits and light sweetness. Medium-bodied, kinda flat. Didn’t age very well - infected. Still not that bad.

Rerate, 275 ml corked bottle, from Kihoskh, Copenhagen. ABV is 10%. Drunk at near room temperature, as recommended. Deep brownish red colour, no head nor any carbonation. Strong aroma of oak, malts, raisins and fusel alcohols. Oaky and malty flavour, notes of dark dried fruits, but not very sweet. A little carbonation would do wonders here. Original rating: Shared bottle at local tasting. Cognac coloured beer, no head nor carbonation. Malty and oaky aroma and flavour, like a barleywine, but not overly sweet. Would profit from a little carbonation.

Bottle at my 5K tasting. March 1987 on the bottle! It pours murky brown with small suspended particles and medium beige head. The nose is oxidised, varnish, caramel, wood, tangy raisin and brown bread. The taste is watery, caramel, wood, tang, varnish, must and dried fruits. Lightish body and low carbonation. Not exactly great....but passable given it’s age.
