Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol 13/5/2022. Amber in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Hedgerow hop character, some red berries and tangerines, slightly earthy malts with a touch of caramel flavour leading to a dryish finish. Fine.

Handpull cask at the Salmon, Leicester. Light gold and extremely clear with a frothy white head. Grassy and bready aroma with light lemon curd. Taste is on the sweet side but with a nice hoppy balance. More light citrus, marmalade and tannic tea notes in the finish. Dull yet enjoyable, if that makes sense.

Handpull cask at the Salmon, Leicester. Mid-gold and clear. Thin off-white head with a good deal of lacing. Light aroma, some grass and hay with an unevennderlying scent of white grapefruit pith. Bittersweet taste, basic but very refreshing and justly balanced. There's just enough grapefruit-y hop to keep it from feeling bland. Just what I'm in the mood for tonight.

Cask at Ferry Boat, Runcorn. Pours a golden amber with a sizeable foamy white head and good lacing. There’s a strong aroma to this one, featuring oranges and floral hops. Much the same in the mouth where the initial taste is bitter and the flavour is traditional hops and marmalade. There’s an underlying sweetness though and traces of caramel and oranges. The finish is dry and bitter. This is a pretty good example of a “proper” IPA.

Cask @ The Abbey. Pours clear gold, decent white head. Aroma presents a mild floral hop presence, taste brings it into a gentle, mild-flavoured bitter territory, pale malt taking the fore with distant floral hop moments.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] A bright pale amber pour with a minimal cream coloured head; sweet grainy aroma with a hint of alcohol; fruity taste with a malty body; and a dry finish.

Cask at Moon under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours a bright copper with a small white head and good lacing. Malts and traditional hops blend together well in the aroma. The mouthfeel has freshness with a bite. Malts are mixed with berries with underlying caramel and toffee plus hints of oranges. Finish is quite malty. This is a nice beer – and deceptively easy to dsrink !

Clear golden colour with lasting head. It's a smooth and creamy ale with subtle fruit hop notes.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a golden yellow with a small white head and good lacing. Nose is vague hints of citrus and grass. In the mouth the texture is quite watery, but is made up for by the range of flavours. Floral hops, lemon, and tangerine – quite a lot of berry fruits too. Finish is bitter with grapefruit traces. This has good a good bite to it – nice.
