Description
It’s too easy to let life become predictable and settle for the ordinary. Luckily though, Orchard Pig is no ordinary cider. It all began in a Somerset shed, surrounded by the best West Country apple trees and free roaming Old Spot pigs. But, whilst every orchard has apples, not every orchard has Old Spot pigs. We believe our free-spirited attitude is the magic ingredient which makes every pint of Orchard Pig taste so refreshingly different to all the rest. Not your average apples, not your average pig. Orchard Pig. It’s a rare breed.

Clear yellow golden color. No head. Medium body and a soft to flat carbonation level. Fine apple aroma and flavor. Pleasant acidity level. Decent cider. Just a bit to flat carbonation level for me.

Cask at the Euston tap east. A light hazed golden yellow coloured pour with a a halo of white head. Aroma is sweet candied apple, apple tart fulling,. Flavour is composed of of medium sweet apple, candied ginger, spicy, mellow spicy ginger. Palate is medium sweet, lowish. Very low chilli, just a minor ginger spicy tickle.

Bottle. Clear pale yellow-golden color with no head. Aroma is restrained apple juice, a tiny little bit funky. Taste is sweet apple juice, again not very flavourful, medium dry finish with less carbonation than expected. Inoffensive, but nothing exciting either.

500ml bottle. Sparkling golden colour, short-lived white foam head and tangy apple aroma. Taste is fruity apple, bittersweet, mellow, with alittle apple skin, straw and tannin. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry lightly tannic finish. Quite drinkable.

Bag-in-a-box from the Flying Pig, Cambridge. Musty apple aroma, heavy on the vinegar. Tastes sweet at first but there’s a touch of soap afterward. Nice sour tang in the finish with sour apple lingering on the aftertaste. I get used to it, but it’s not the most balanced of their ciders. Bit of a mixed bag.
