Bottle from Morrisons drank at home. Gold clear lasting off white head. Some hop and citrus on the aroma. I thought this was fine. It’s what is now thought of a regular beer in the UK. Slightly citrusy hoppy slightly bitter. It’s clean and fine. Light and refreshing and I thought ok. I was happy to drink this.

Bottle from Morrisons and drunk on the train home. Apple juice aroma. Very drinkable clean in the mouth. Been ages since I had a cider and this one is pretty decent. Yes drinkable enough. A touch sweet. Not huge character but solid

500ml Bottle: BBD 31 Aug 14, poured into a UK pint sleeve on 29 Dec 13. Good deep off-white head on a clear orange/old golden body: carbonation bubbles rising through the body clearly visible. The nose has a caramel malty lead with floral hop notes arriving later. The taste is also malt led, semi-sweet toffee and caramel flavours in fact. The hop content then takes over a little and the beer become bitter and drying towards the end of each sip. The flavours hide the 5.8% ABV well and the body has enough depth to carry the beer along nicely. This was a lot better than I thought it would be and for a fairly cheap ’supermarket brew’ it was great value.

500ml Bottle brewed for the Morrison Supermarket chain: BBD 31 Aug 13, poured (twice) into a ’La Vieille Salme’ chalice at home on 22 Dec 13. Looked fine, a clear and bright, light ruby red colour with a soft blanket of white foam as a head. Mild aroma of malt molasses and red berries mashed up with a hazelnut paste. The taste was also a blend of the aforementioned smells: semi-sweet maltiness, some berries and with a nutty presence in the background. I thought it rather thin body wise for a Dark Ale at 5.0% ABV, but it didn’t lack flavour, just a bit of depth. One of the best ’supermarket’ beers currently available in the UK. The rear label suggest food pairings and they sounded about right as I drank my bottle with a packet of ’Sun-dried Tomato & Herbes De provence’ crisps (which were not mentioned as a food choice).

500ml Bottle: BBD 28 Aug 14, poured into a UK pint sleeve on 18 Dec 13. As the names might suggest, this is a golden ale: a thin white head sat on top. Citrus notes in a forgettable nose: weak lemon curd on toast sort of smell. The taste wasn’t much better, again those citrus hints, this time without the toast but with lightly peppered and layered on hay. Not for me: glad it didn’t cost much.

Plenty of dark malts in the aroma and taste. Also some bittersweet caramel. A nice bitter. Easy to drink, smooth, full flavoured.

Clear blond appearance. Some toffee maltiness in the aroma but also a bit stale. Quite a thick, silky texture. Flavour of pale malts and light fruity hop. Fails to pack a flavour punch.

Golden/orange colour. Fruity hop comes through quite prominently in the aroma. Fruity hop also in the flavour. Quite malty with a good degree of bitterness in the aftertaste. Pleasantly full flavoured.
