Description
Portobello was founded by Rob Jenkins & Farooq Khalid in September 2012. Rob is a beer industry veteran who’s worked across the industry in a career spanning 30+ years. Farooq is a brewing and engineering whizz who is just as comfortable designing & building new bits of brew kit as he is devising delicious recipes.

Cask at the Clachan, Soho. It pours cloudy golden with a thick white head. The nose is earth, barnyard, wheat, cat litter, spice and faint smoke. The taste is doughy, wheat, grain, hay, underlying sweetness and a touch of spice with a dry finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. A fairly ho hum wit.

Cask @ EBF14 2013, 14th Egham Beer Festival, Egham United Services Club (EUSC), 111 Spring Rise, Egham, Surrey, England TW20 9PE.Clear medium amber orange color with a average, frothy and open, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, vomit, light to moderate hoppy, fruity. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, sweet malt, fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. Cask at The William Jolle (Wetherspoons), Northwood Hills. A golden coloured pour with a small white head on top. Hoppy, fruity aroma. Tastes similar, hoppy, fruity, malty with a slightly bitter finish.

Cask at the Vicky Spoons - London. Pours clear gold with a foamy, white head. The nose has ripe citrus and pale bread. Medium sweet with further ripe citrus, orange, light bitter rind and grass, some white bread. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Pretty good condition. Lightly resinous to finish, some sticky pine and ripe citrus, further rindy bitterness and pale bread. Not bad, really, though could use some refining.

Cask at Haymarket. Pours hazy yellow, thick white head. Light spice and bread aromas. Taste has a light lemon sweetness. Clean finish, OK.

Cask at the moon under water JDW Watford. Hazed light golden colour with a stodgy white head. Aroma is tangerine orange, straw and some lemon hop. Flavour is assertive orange zest bitterness. Grainy malts with some sweetness. Some peppercorn. Medium light palate with some residual sweetness. Hops aren’t that fresh like other london IPAs.

Cask at the moon under water jdw. Very pale yellow straw light haze. Scummy white head. Bit of lace. Aroma is spicy lemon zest straw. Flavour is spicy lemon, light earthy. Pale clean malt. Solid assertive bitterness. Light grassy.

Keg at Union Tavern. It pours clear golden-amber with a minimal fizzy white head. The nose is lemon & lime, sweet, grass and sweet dough. The taste is grassy, lemon pith, lime, gala melon, light sweetness and buttered bread with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Straight forward, easy going pils.
