Description
Located on the Oregon Coast, de Garde Brewing is dedicated to unique offerings. Our craft draws on historic traditions and local experimentation.

But wait... what does that mean?

First off, we do not add laboratory cultured yeast to ferment our beer. We simply cool the wort naturally in a coolship. Amazing yeast & microflora are all around us! That's why we're in Tillamook!

After the wort cools, we transfer everything to oak barrels (some big, some small, some medium). Each beer takes it's own time in barrels to finish fermenting.

Most of our beers take anywhere from 6 months to 5+ years in barrels before we package them.

Every bottle is naturally conditioned and ready to be enjoyed when we release it. Although the beer can age, please note the fruit and hop additions will dissipate with extended time.

But most importantly, we hope you enjoy!
Cheers!

On tap at Saraveza, pours a deep dark murky brown with a few bubbles of head. Aroma is very murky, with jumbled cocoa and cherries, along with earthy notes. Flavour is very strange, with a mess of discordant notes - cocoa, earthy notes and lots of tartness. It all clashes in a disharmonious way. Not good at all.

Bottle thanks to Matt. Pours a cloudy amber with thin off white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is a strong oak, raisin, and booze. Medium mouthfeel with cherry skin, raisin, and boozy finish. Good

Deutlich saurer Antrunk, intensive Traubennoten. Komplex, vollmundige Fruchtigkeit, adstringent, langer saurer Nachgeschmack, sehr gut! 11/12/12/14/8/14

Courtesy and thanks to digita7693 , LoPo87 and Sam. 375 ml. bottle sampled. 2nd batch, first batch bottled. Red hued touch murky brown, little mocha head. Smells of paint thinner and chocolate cherries, touch red wine and dark malts plus chocolate. Tastes of sweet chocolate upfront, going mildly sour, chocolate cherries, paint thinner, red wine, chocolate cake, oak, mellow funk, full bodied, touch lower carbonation. Quite enjoyable, tastes a bit like something that Mikkeller would release to me.

Courtesy and thanks to digita7693 , LoPo87 and Sam. 500 ml. growler sampled. Clearer on the sides dark brown, touch bordeaux, murky, not much in the way of head. Smells heavily of mind, lavender, black pepper, soy sauce, mint and lavender are pretty over, a clear wtf moment. Tastes of bitter mint (toothpaste mint and not real mint), some nice sweet sugary chocolate, faint tartness, booziness from the barrels, soy sauce, black pepper, chocolate malts, herbal, touch roast. Low carbonation. Okay in theory but tastes more like a novelty than anything else and a tasting glass is already to much. “Faux pas” indeed.
