Description
Located on the Oregon Coast, de Garde Brewing is dedicated to unique offerings. Our craft draws on historic traditions and local experimentation.

But wait... what does that mean?

First off, we do not add laboratory cultured yeast to ferment our beer. We simply cool the wort naturally in a coolship. Amazing yeast & microflora are all around us! That's why we're in Tillamook!

After the wort cools, we transfer everything to oak barrels (some big, some small, some medium). Each beer takes it's own time in barrels to finish fermenting.

Most of our beers take anywhere from 6 months to 5+ years in barrels before we package them.

Every bottle is naturally conditioned and ready to be enjoyed when we release it. Although the beer can age, please note the fruit and hop additions will dissipate with extended time.

But most importantly, we hope you enjoy!
Cheers!

On tap @ Bailey’s Taproom, Portland, Sixth Anniversary Barrel Aged Fest. Pours hazy dark redly golden, with a small airy head. Aroma is quite surprisingly rather hoppy, with whiffs of sour. Creamy body with soft carbonation. Flavour is sour with oak and balsamic vinegar, as well as tart fruity notes of grapefruit and wine grapes. Tart fruity finish with grapes and wild cherries.

Bottle at Bruce’s pad, thanks to the host with the most, 08/04/14. Lightly hazed golden orange with moderate off white spotting. Nose is mango, bitter tropicana, peach, light booze, sticky canned fruit juice residue, light spice. Taste comprises orange pith, spice, lick of booze - but not 15% worth, light funk, apricot jam, honey, sugar licks. Medium + body, fine carbonation, light boozey warmth in a drying close. Interesting one, not massively sour, more akin to a triple IPA kind of thing with lots of sticky tropicana. As for the ABV if this is really 15.5% it is expertly hidden, but I somehow doubt this! Decent tipple none the less!

Tasting at Bruce’s Pad. Thanks to Bruce for this monster sour. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream coloured head. Very light palate, mildly crisp. Floral tangy lemon - tangerine. Whisper of spice. Comes together well. Scarily well hidden alcohol! Either that or the abv printed on the bottle is bollocks!

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Bruce. Pours hazy gold with a creamy, white head. The nose is fairly herbal with lots of ripe citrus, peach. Medium to big sweet flavor with a bit of alcohol kick, some bitter dried herbs, alcohol-soaked fruits. Medium tof full bodied with average carbonation. Warming finish, almost hot, with a bit of thyme, slight doughy sugars, tangerine. Punchy but tasty.

Bottle thanks to Bruce. It pours clear golden with a small white head. The nose is earth, brett, white grape, gooseberry, honey, hay, barnyard, vanilla and wood. The taste is earthy, brett, funk, barnyard, white grape, dough, vinous notes, dull honey, light bitterness and wood with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Can’t believe this is supposed to be 15+%, drinks very easily. Not a whole lot of depth, but pretty nice anyhow.

On tap at Saraveza, pours a cloudy murky golden with a small white head. Nose is very dank and earthy, and compared to the Wild Blend #2, not very fruity. Flavour resembles this exactly, with a very dank and dry body. More enjoyable than #2, but still not my cup of tea (or beer).

On tap at Saraveza, pours a cloudy murky golden with a small white head. Aroma is very dank and earthy, with citrus and wild notes. Flavour is very dank, with very jumbled notes of earth, dark farmhouse notes and light fruitiness. Very dank, earthy and muted. Not a big fan of this.

On tap at Saraveza, pours an opaque orange with a few bubbles for head. Aroma of weird earthy notes, signature de Garde yeast, and herbal notes. Flavour brings out loads of earthy notes, farmhouse yeast, some sort of wood barrels, and more earthy notes. Fairly jumbled, like the other two blends I've had. Decent stuff.
