Bottle at Table Table, Dover. This is rateable on Ratebeer? Seriously? Anyway, we were off to mainland Europe, where I understand these radler things are quite popular, so I thought I’d best try to get into the swing of things. Also I was thirsty, wanted something refreshing, and the restaurant’s three cask taps had all run dry. It pours a cloudy pale yellow with a light fizz. It tastes of sweet but reasonably decent lemonade. Bit then behind it there is just a slight hint of the slightly sour and mildly unpleasant soggy cardboardy nothingness of Fosters. It’s too sweet to be refreshing- we’re in definite alcopop territory here. However, there’s no denying that the lemonade improves one of the more dismal of the industrial lagers... although it is also possible that the addition of Fosters ruins the lemonade somewhat. Whichever way you look at it though, I’ll stick with my cask ale in future over any of this Radler teenage alcopop muck, thankyou very much!

300ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy lemon with no head. Aroma is fresh lime juice, cinnamon and ginger. Taste is lime juice throughout with a soapy ginger finish and warm ginger aftertaste.

Served in a glass at a family BBQ - "Are you driving?" "Yes!" "Ah, this might be a wee bit strong, we have the 0.0% version if you want." "No, I’m alright, what is it? Hooch?" "Have a taste..." "Jesus wept! WTF is it? No seriously, what have you given me? It’s what? And they do a 0.0% version too? Get me a Diet Coke... NOW!!!! And some Tic-Tacs!" Bleurghh. Putrid. The Wife liked it mind you....

£1 per bottle down the Foresters so I thought, what the hell. Cloudy STD piss yellow. Smells like an above average lemonade. Tastes like an above average lemonade. No trace of beer at all. Good soft drink, terrible beer. Still, cheaper by volume than a soda, and there is that slight alcoholic buzz that reminds me what could have been.

Hazy yellow, no head. It’s basically an alcopop with an obviously lemon base which is clearly evident in its nose. Sickly sweet.

Can 50cl. Hazy yellow color, small vanishing white head. Citric fruity, like OJ from concenrate, aroma. Light to medium bodied. Some citric acidity, lemon candy, hints of malt in the flavor. In the radler category above the average.

Clear 300ml bottle: BBD 31 Dec 13, poured down my throat in a mates kitchen on 26 Oct 13. Slight haze to the golden body, drank from the bottle, so no head really, just some bubbles showing after each gulp. Refreshing and ideal in a hot kitchen watching a curry being prepared and cooked. Lemon aroma and taste: this beer doesn’t try and pretent to be something else: it’s a low alcohol, semi-sweet lemon flavoured lager and it does it well. Not really my ’cup of tea’, but credit where it’s due, nothing wrong with it at all.

Bottle at chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013 - London. Pours clear, pale yellow with a light, white foam head. Sweet with nice, pointy sugar, strong lime character. Light bodied with average carbonation. Sugary sweet lime to finish. Easy.
