Description
After a great reception from his hobby as an enthusiastic amateur brewer, Toby Mackenzie and his wife Caroline decided to expand and go full time establishing the award winning Red Willow brewery in 2010. Their aim was to make the types of beer that they like - full of flavour yet easy to drink. Red Willow now offer a range of beers that can be found in many local pubs and shops in cask

Bottle. A big, dense, off-white head forms over an almost clear golden body. The aroma is citrusy and faintly grassy. Some pale malts. The flavor has some pale malts as a foundation for the grassy, lightly citrusy hops. A nice bitterness level too. Full to medium body, semi-dry and with a tad too much carbonation. Mostly bitter finish. A pretty decent one, but a tad boring. 140228

On tap at Red Squirrel. Pours chestnut brown, little to no head. Dull toffee nose, light fruit. Taste has more of the same, light sweet toffee. Hint of pine bitterness at the end. Not a lot going on.

330ml bottle. Pours a very dark chestnut brown, with a smoky bitter aroma. Taste is nutty and smoky with a plummy juiciness and a touch of caramel and teasing bitter finish. Very nice.

On cask at Sheaf View, Sheffield - Hazy gold body with a little white head. Palate is soft and syrupy with a gentle carbonation. Nose and taste both have a sort of tangerine bubblegum citrusness to it. Enjoyable, but a little too much after a while.
