Back to back 'Faithless' finds at the same venue, no.231 was found here a couple of weeks ago. A cask brew that feels a little carbonated, I think it's just the tropical fruit feeling active in this one though. This is lightish but provides a good sweetish flavour, that gets best in aftertaste. Light golden with a minimal haze.

Clear light golden coloured brew. 231 is not a prime number, nor is this a prime beer. It's nice and hoppy, but very ordinary tasting, at least on this blandish cask pour occasion, although there's nothing particularly wrong or bad about its condition either.

Cask at The Green Goddess Easter Cask Beer Festival, Blackheath Royal Standard. Earthy nose of raisin, nuts, chocolate, coffee. Taste smoke, cherry drops, nuts, raisin, toffee. Earthy malty sweet with a touch of sour red fruits. Interesting.

Cask at The Colmore, Brum. Opaque brown. Thin foamy light beige head primarily clings to the rim. Aroma has fruit, sour fruit, dark malts amd booze. Flavourwise it's quite sour with a light fruit sweet edge. Hints of underlying malts. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-flat carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Not overly keen on this Barley Wine. Too sour for me. Not aw warming sipper which is what I want from the style.

440ml can. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of caramel, spicy yeast esters, a little banana. Taste of prominent yeast esters, spicy, banana, sweet candi sugar and caramel malt, moderately sweet but sort of drying in the finish. Medium bodied.

440ml can. Clear amber pour with a beige head. Aroma of dried fruits, spices and yeast esters, light banana, caramel, dried fruits. Taste of dried fruits, caramel, mild spices, light banana, bubblegum, light sweetness but mostly pretty dry. Medium-ish body.
