Description
After a great reception from his hobby as an enthusiastic amateur brewer, Toby Mackenzie and his wife Caroline decided to expand and go full time establishing the award winning Red Willow brewery in 2010. Their aim was to make the types of beer that they like - full of flavour yet easy to drink. Red Willow now offer a range of beers that can be found in many local pubs and shops in cask

'Mad Friday' 2025 Beer#14. Fourteenth brew on one of the busiest drinking days of the year. A year's ageing is apparent and gives the brew a mature roasted character, which is relatively soft in texture for its strength. It's certainly full-bodied though. Quite smooth with chocolate desperate to escape.

'Mad Friday' 2025 Beer#15. Fifteenth brew on one of the busiest drinking days of the year. Deeper clear amber coloured brew. Looks good. Quite a pleasant supping, fairly full-bodied tasting ale, with the style of the beer more than evident and obvious.

Penny Less - I felt like it after purchasing this one. Strong heavy, but not particularly boozy barley wine. It's quite smooth too with mild liquorice notes.

Sweet Harmony was a 1993 hit single by The Beloved. This Harmony is sweet-hoppy in design through some mild berry notes, available in both aroma and taste, but quite bittered in its finish, which in turn gives it a somewhat bland finish.

Cask at Plug & Taps, Preston. Pours almost black with a small foamy tan head. The aroma has malts and nuts with a hint of dried fruit. In the mouth it is quite sweet and creamy with flavours of malts, honey and molasses. Later on come traces of vanilla, chocolate and raisins. Malts last into the finish. This is quite decent.

Hazy bright gold with a frothy white head and a juicy fruit aroma. Sharp and sherbet-like up front, tropical fruit salad with a hop kick, some mellow bitterness and a dry finish.
