Cask at the Acorn Inn (JDW), Lichfield, 27/02/2025.
Golden amber with a lasting just off white head.
Nose is biscuit, straw, dried fruit rinds, orange peel.
Taste comprises brown bread, straw, hedgerow, grass.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying close with a good dose of bitterness.
Okay cask offering although not getting much IPA from this!
Not much evidence of this beer online ... certainly nothing to say its an IPA other than the style masterclass that is UT ... set as a pale ale.

Cask at The Square Peg. This place was closed for refurbishment last time I passed but now I'm allowed in it doesn't look any different! Still gloomy as hell. Anyway this beer has a clear dark gold pour with small off white head and great lacing. It's tangy, yeast driven, woody, some stone fruit hints, light toffee. Medium bodied, drying. It's ok but I wasn't bowled over.

500ml bottle. Clear gold with small loose white head, modest retention. Aroma is simple being, sweet, grainy and grassy but with a punchiness to it so not like a cheap lager. Smooth malts come through being quite sweet and grainy with a touch of grassy hops and peppery spice in the finish with a mild bitterness. Quite good for a lager.

Cask at Moon Under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours a hazy pale straw with minimal off-white head but excellent lacing. Grains and some hints of floral hops in the aroma. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with a chewy texture and a strong dose of floral hops, which keep on increasing. Plenty of citrus and lemon there too, and some traces of tropical fruits after a while. Finish is slightly try. This is reasonable, but too citrusy for me – not really an IPA either.
