Cask, handpump at The White Rabbit, Oxford, Tuesday 8th July 2014 in company of Loz, Grace & Ian Amber in appearance not too much of a head save for a few bubbles, in fact one might suggest that it appears a little flat. Taste is mildly fruity with a tame bitterness, this is a very safe rather ordinary bitter, absolutely fine, tastes ok but very little else to remark on. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov13 3.0

Bottle for xmas. Golden, no head. Has a milky-malt aroma with the lightest of fruit notes. Medium bodied.

50cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. Deep mahogany with a reddish glow and a ring of translucent foam; drinking chocolate aroma; rather thin, with a rich, sweet, roasted malt taste with lots of chocolate; and a dry chocolatey finish. A rather average porter, but very drinkable.

Bottle at Mum & Dad’s - cheers! Yellow-amber, no head, slight fizz. Rather thin mouthfeel. There’s maybe a little citrus and peach, but more noticeable are the sour notes and cabbagey whiff. Behind this it’s sweet and watery, with some dryness in the finish. Very poor, especially compared to the Windrush I tried from the same brewery just before.

Bottle at Mum & Dad’s - cheers! Reddish-amber, no head. Good rich mouthfeel, especially considering the low abv, but it’s spoilt a little by the too-prickly fizz. Sweet caramel on tasting followed by Ribena and lots of malt. Moderate bitterness in the drying finish. Not a bad bitter actually, and plenty of flavour for the strength.

Cask at the Merchants Inn, Rugby, 24/07/13. Clear dark amber with a thin off white head. Nose is malty, dark fruit, sugar. Taste is a little thin, dark fruit, dates, fruity tang, sugars, bready malt. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light fruit notes and a touch of bitterness in the finale. Mediocre bitter.

Cask at the Merchants Inn, Rugby, 24/07/13. Light black with a thin tan head that clears to the edge and leaves a little spotting. Nose is light roast, dark fruits, leather. Taste comprises light roast, shaving of chocolate, hints of dates and raisens. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry finish. Average dark number.

bottle from Darts Farm. Hazy golden colour, oildy consistency, no head to speak off, perhaps some bubbles. Sweet and sticky with lots of alcohol flavours, and some hoppy flavours in the far background. Very disappointing.

Cask handpump at The Queens Head, Chelmsford. Tawny brown colour. Floral fruity aroma, with raisins. Not bad, but rather too thin texture.
