Bottle. Fairly fruity nose: Apples, strawberries and plums in rum. Chestnut, offwhite layer. Rumcake entry, apples, berries, honey, light chocolate - quite delicious desertlike flavours. The fruity sweetness is well offset by dry roast and hop bitterness. Medium chewy body, mellow mouthfeel. Good Doppelbock!

Strange name for a beer - do they refer to the "Schwarze Reiter" from Lord of the Rings? Who knows... The beer is not really black, copper-coloured. Starts modest malty-fruity, but also very sweet, too sweet. Not better than average!

Bottle. Light grainy nose. Golden, low head. Medium body, sparkly. Light grain, ok balance. Not too inspired, but quenches the thirst.

Bottle. Light grainy, grassy aroma. Pale golden, light carbonation, low creamy head. Fairly grainy and hayish base, ok herbal and grass hop counterpoint in the background. They went for a Landbier approach, but a light one at that. Quick finish. Designed for quaffability, but not in a uninspired way. Light grass and flowers on the palate in the aftertaste.

Bottle: Hazy, amber coloured, quite stable creamy beige head; sweetish-fruity, a bit clovey, a bit caramelly, nose; moderate sweetish-sourish flavour, creamy MF, light to medium bodied; caramelly and slightly sourish-fruity notes in the finish. Quite O.K. ...........

The bottle looks very simple, the beer in the glass is very zippy, not much foam. Starts fruity, the finish is like water, very boring. Not so good.

(bottle) Hazy, chestnut colour with a big, light-beige foamy head. Moderately sweet malty and berry-fruity aroma with light toasty notes and a touch of cloves and nutmeg. Light-bitter and sourish flavour, medium to light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Minimal toasty malty taste with light fruity notes and phenolic spices; almost refreshing bitter and slightly fruity finish with a good balance. Nice Dunkelweizen (17.II.09).
