Description
The Faversham Brewery is home to Shepherd Neame, Britain's oldest brewer - and while 1698 is the Brewery's official founding date, there is clear evidence that its heritage pre-dates even this period. Using natural ingredients, such as mineral water from the town’s aquifer and local hops, our brewers produce Kentish ales bursting with character and renowned international lagers. Our brewers blend art and science to produce award-winning beer we want you to enjoy time and time again.

(Bottle 50 cl) Beautiful amber colour with a nice, white head that leaves laces when it settles. Malty, sweetish nose. Surprisingly full-bodied considering the low alcohol. Sweetish, lightly smoked malt - almost whisky-like notes. Siscreet, short, dry, hoppy finish. Lovely spring beer. 160605

Cask at County Hotel, Ashford. Yeah this is ok as a premium bitter. Typical Sheps nose with some fruit and some hops in this mid brown beer. Mind you I will only have this is there are no guests on or Abbot Ale

Cask at Sun Inn Faversham, Kent. Good warming fruit in this and a good malty flavour. Excellent to warm you up in the autumn

Cask at Sun Inn Faversham, Kent. One of Sheps better seasonal beers. Good lemon citrus hop nose and a refreshing citric flavour with flowery hops. Still the usual Sheps slight yeast taste, but still pretty good

Cask at Sun Inn Faversham, Kent. A bit better than most Sheps beers, but that is only because the alcohol means there are some more flavours, slighlty sweet mahogany coloured beer with some good dark fruit flavours and malts with even some burntness. Slightly better than the average beer.

Cask at Sun Inn Faversham, Kent Reddish brown beer, tastes very similar to the rest of the Sheps range with maybe a little bit more fruit. Undistinguished

Bottle. Sparkly. Dark copper colour with a creamy head. Peppery, malty flavour. Creamy mouthfeel. Buttery, malty aftertaste. Very nice for a bottled ale. 1998 vintage: Bottle. Sourly malty aroma, green apple. Clear chestnut colour. Very small head. Malty flavour, a lot better than the aroma. Peppery aftertaste.

This Ale pours a dark orange colour with a nice tan frothy head. Nice carbonation. Scents of sweet malts and a little ripe fruit. First sip was slightly bitter but with nice malt flavours. Bitterness shining through on the second sip too. Maybe a little heavy on the bitter hop side for me but nice just the same. A little roasted flavour in the middle and the palate is slightly floral.
