$4.85 bottle, WW. Best by August 2022, so plenty of time... Copper color with a small off-white head. Aroma is sour stone fruit. Flavor is tart peach, caramel, sugar, slight tart berry. Sweet for a sour.

The family of organic Biofresh beers is still growing apparently, and this is the - to my knowledge - latest descendant, a daughter named Blanche, evidently a witbier, but made with four grains (barley, wheat, oat and spelt) rather than the classic two grains. Bottle from some organic food store in Ghent. Medium thick, mousy, regular, snow white, slowly and irregularly opening head, generally stable, over an initially lightly hazed, lemon-yellow blonde beer with lime-green tinge, shifting to an equally misty yellow-blonde with sediment. Weird aroma of dry old bread crust, old and dirty polyester doormats, rubber tyres even, green apple, dusty old coriander seed, dried out lemon peel, hints of pumice, unripe pear, damp straw, fennel, freshly cut garden weeds. Fruity onset, unripe banana, green apple, some peach and pear, lively fizz with emphatic minerally effects, slick and lightly soapy body; clear wheaty soapiness and sourishness mingles with a bready barley note as well as 'dull' spelt and oat 'spiciness' and graininess, but the velvety effect I expect when I see oats in the ingredients list does not really come through. Dusty coriander seed and old dried lime peel effects try to brighten up the finish, the latter even adding some vague sourish refreshment, while the sweet graininess and bready-yeasty effects linger, a tad starch-like, along with a floral, light hop bitter touch. Sharp carbonation (even for this usually highly carbonated style) remains active till the end. Your typical old school witbier, albeit less soapy, more spicy and more lean than is classically the case; drinkable and quenching, but this weird polyester and old rubber effect in the nose, no doubt a flaw in fermentation somewhere, is hardly inviting to take a next sip...

Gekocht in de Prik&Tik Bierhandel De Picker in Zele op 23-05-2019. En thuis geproefd op 10-08-2019. Couckelaerschen Doedel is een helder-amber biertje dat bij het uitschenken veel beige kleurig schuim aanmaakt in de romige-moussige vorm. Het blijft sterk aan het glas kleven en er is veel CO2 verzadiging te zien met grootte belletjes. Het schuim zakt snel in elkaar tot een dun fijn laagje.
HET AROMA:
Karamel-zoet, geroosterde- en koffiemout, een houttoets en wat vanille
DE SMAAK:
Is karamel-zoet, wat citrus en lichtjes wat curacao
HET MONDGEVOEL:
Medium body met een stoffige textuur en een medium koolzuurprikkel. Een teleurstellend biertje.
DE NASMAAK:
Vloeit kort uit, is wat karamel-zoet, wat citrus, een lichte curacao-toets en een zeer lichte alcohol-toets.
HET VERDICT:
Ik heb het niet begrepen op 25 CC flesjes. Hier is het aroma het interessants, er zouden 5 kruiden in verwerkt zijn, maar deze komen voornamelijk enkel in de smaak en de nasmaak lichtjes tevoorschijn, en dan nog voornamelijk de curacao. Het medium body gevoel en de medium prikkeling in de mond doen er ook geen goed aan.

Bière pression 33 cl bue au bar le métropole à Lille, je l'ai aussi bue devant notre Dame de la treille en terrasse il y a quelques temps. Une triple fraîche qui tire sur la pils, parfaite en ce soir de fête de la musique sans être extraordinaire.

Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are sweet chocolate, a bit artificial, but not too bad. Also caramel, malt and hops. Sweet finish.

Bottle kindly donated by Gurthnar, many thanks. Dark Amber color with medium beige head. Aroma of dolvent, sourness. Sour taste with solvent, caramel, nice sourness. Infected beer.

Bottle at a tasting. There is a pretty strong solvent off aroma and flavour, which mostly ruins the beer. Otherwise this seems to have been a pretty good beer originally, with a decent underlying malty complexity. Not good as is unfortunately. I would like to rerate someday.
