Description
The Brasserie du Pays Flamand was founded in November 2006. At the start, a common passion of 2 childhood friends: Olivier Duthoit and Mathieu Lesenne, turned into a real large-scale project. The brewery first settled in Blaringhem, on the border of French Flanders and Artois. This is where Bracine, Anosteké and Wilde Leeuw were born. Today, a second, much larger production site has been set up in Merville, in order to meet growing demand. Each brew is a claim to their origins, to the northern terroir, and each beer, an invitation to conviviality. The different ranges offered testify to respected traditional know-how, a search for original taste, and a desire to discover new flavors. The Brasserie du Pays Flamand regularly collaborates with brewers from all over the world, bringing together cultures and ideas to offer you exceptional beers.

75cl bottle from the tourist information place in Hazebrouck. Pours a misty blonde, good white head. Aroma of harvest malt, light saison yeast. Flavour profile presents a moderate saison character, soft yeasty touch with some mild harvest grain with a spicy hint. Not as full flavoured as some, but nice enough on the hottest day of the year so far.

Old rating from Aug 2015 - 750ml bottle share with the owner and his friend at Kerelshof II cafe in Cassel. Brewed with wine I'm told. Pours a light reddish colour with next to no head. Aromas of fruits. Tastes of summer fruits, with the wine coming through, with next to no hops but with the alcohol comes through on the aftertaste.

On tap at L’Atalante, pours a hazy pale golden blonde with a small white head. Nose smells like feet, with some armpit and I guess some wild bugs in there. Flavour is better, with earthy funk, a bit of sweat socks, rustic notes, and light-to-moderate acidity. Strange yeast profile. A bit off the mark.

Rhine river trip 2025. Hazy gold in color with a two-finger head. Aroma definitely leans to the hoppy side. Taste also leans to the hoppy side but not as much as most IPAs.

Almost clear very deep amber beer, small bubbly tan head. There is a half inch of something cruddy looking at the bottom of the bottle but, as it has stayed there, not marking it down. A light smoke on the snout. Airy palate, a little dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Light but smooth malts deliver light smooth malt cream and a mild and not sweet caramel. White smoke runs throughout, never asphyxiating. Ripe fruits, mild prune and dates under a slightly spicy almost liqueur like citric peel. A softness on the back end would indicate some sort of barrel treatment. Mild vanilla and a little fruity whiskey or something. Full on, flavoursome and layered and pretty drinkable with it.
