Description
2005 saw the acquisition of Jennings Brewery by Marston’s PLC.

In 2009, the Cockermouth floods had a huge impact on the business and the site, forcing Marston’s to implement flood safety features and barricades throughout the site. A few short years after the floods, brewing transferred out of the town and a mass rebrand occurred.

Marston's retrained ownership of the brewery (through Carlsberg UK) until it closed its doors in November 2022

Bottle from Morrisons Aylesbury 20-04-06 Nice dark reddy brown colour with a pleasant malty aroma. Initial taste is that of cocoa powder slowly melting on your tongue and then more malty and smoother roasted flavours begining to show. First time that I have had this in a bottle for some time and despite my reservations I was mightily impressed,. very good.

Bottle from Morrisons Aylesbury. Dark golden in colour with medium white head, Very bitter and quite hoppy and as such I am not entirely sure that I agree with the commercial description of ’delicate flavour’, some fruitiness in there as well, not bad at all.

A hazy light amber beer with a nice light orange whipped cream-like head. The aroma is sweet hoppy with light yeasty and caramel notes. The flavor is sweet hoppy with light malty notes - a very clean and fresh beer, but with a thin body.

Cask at Hobgoblin Bicester 17-01-06. Only beer on in this Hobgoblin pub which was a tad dissapointing. Found it a little sweet, reasonable clean head, quite bitter and hoppy lingering on. A good pint but nothing earth shattering.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pretty pale amber with a handsome head. Very neutral aroma - I miss some fruityness here. Vague touches of malt and caramel. Somewhat metallic edge. A bit disappointing. 250703

(Bottle 50 cl) Dark amber without much head. Lightly smoked character with a discreet sweetnes and a subdued bitterness. Somewhat nutty notes, very drinkable and pleasant although not with the greatest personality. 090303

(Bottle 50 cl) Fully golden - almost orange - with a small, dense head. Rather light-bodied and somewhat. Completely dominated by bittering hops and not so much more

(Bottle 50 cl) Orangey golden, bordering amber. Small, dense, creamy head. Lovely malty and very dry beer with a vague roasted note. Good, marked bitterness that never overwhelms. Quite well balanced and harmonious session beer. 271002
