Cask. An orange beer with a small disappearing head. The aroma is slight but with sweet notes. The flavor is lovely bitter with some flowery and spicy notes. It is brewed on an OK malt and has an OK bitternes, that lingers.

Nose is cola, blackberry, slight roast, very sweet. Taste is very sweet; blackberry, cherry, cola, leading to roast malt notes with a hint of coco. Mouthfeel is very smooth. A good beer which has surprising complexity for the style.

From a 500mL bottle. Aroma has a nice, fairly assertive malt character with quite a bit of cracker, biscuit and graham cracker notes with faint caramel. Medium light earthy and woodsy hop notes compliment, but play a background role. Faint floral esters. Pours an almost perfectly clear, copper color with a medium thick, somewhat small, off white head that displays really nice retention. Flavor is similar to aroma with a light sweetness upfront as well as some cracker and biscuit notes. Medium light bitterness that helps dry out the finish. Medium light woodsy hop character with a touch of herbal spice. Finish has a bready, cracker note to it that goes well with the drying character. Mouthfeel is medium light to light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall a really nice, easy drinking, balanced beer. I forget how good a clean, British session beer can be. Nice simple, but intriguing malt character with balanced hop notes and bitterness. Faint esters that do not overwhelm at all.

Bottle. Pours clear dark ruby black with a small tan head that dissipates slowly and laces pretty well. Aroma is roast, cocoa, cardboard. Flavor is pretty decent actually, light plus sweet with notes of dark cocoa, roasted malts, perhaps coffee, quite light bitterness on the back end. Medium body, well carbonated. This ain’t bad for a sub 5% beer.

4$ at vintage. Seems to be a pretty thick bottle. Once in my 16oz glass I know how big the bottle is; mini bomber. decent looking old lager appearance. Smell is mild sweeter candy. Yes, first taste is indicator this is a milder beer but with enough personality to make you question it. For some reason I was expecting some old lager tasting thing but am presently surprised. Has good sizzling co2 but could use a tad more. As the session continues, it becomes a little more interesting. Finish is slight watery ending thing that’s difficult to quantify .......and it never gets in your face, just yer mouth. One of the better beer experiences from England. The big bottle really gives you a chance to appreciate the evolution of this beer.

Cask at London Drinker festival 2014, Kings Cross, London. A straw coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, malty, tropical fruit aroma. Tastes hoppy, malty, tropical fruit, slightly sweet, caramel. This went down so quickly, a very drinkable IPA from the Lake District.

Flaske 0,275l spandert av Rune og delt med ham under bonusseanse i WC-veien 30 Apr 13. Gyldenbrun. Høyt luftig skum som varer. Forsiktig krydderaroma. Smaken veldig søt. Litt mandler. Holder seg veldig søt. Litt tørr i avslutninga. Preg av sherry.
