Description

06-06-21 // 330ml bottle. Not what I would immediately associate with a Hefeweizen. More modern interpretation but a good one.

26/V/21 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ home, BB: I/2022, Lot 4820 (2021-429)

Little cloudy deep orange to almost amber beer, big solid creamy off-white head, pretty stable, crackles down slowly, bit adhesive. Aroma: nice, some ripe sweet tropical fruits, bit of caramel malts, some oranges, orange peel, little zesty, floral touch. MF: very lively carbon, medium to light body. Taste: pretty bitter, fruity notes, very malty, grains, some caramel, little oxidized, orange peel. Aftertaste: spicy, bit herbal, soapy bitterness, pretty dry, some alcohol, hint of tropical fruits, somewhat yeasty, bit of banana. Decent beer on its own, but way too much malty flavours for a modern IPA.

26/V/21 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ home, BB: XI(?)/2022 (ink is rather smudgy), Lot 0521 (2021-428)

Rather cloudy bright yellow beer, huge creamy irregular white head, stable, bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: malty in the nose up front, grains, some wheat, citrus notes, slightly floral, some ripe banana, peaches, hint of marzipan, a little oxidized? MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: malty start, nice bitterness, hoppy, bit grassy, citrus notes, little yeasty, very quaffable. Aftertaste: little sweet, hint of honey, some ripe banana, citrus notes, soft acidity, malted grains, good bitterness, pretty resinous hops, dry finish, pleasantly surprised! Good summer beer!

Bouteille 33cl, BB 01/2022, lot# 4820.
