GBBF. Hazy amber beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is smooth and dry. A trace of superfine carbonation. Mild rye spice, mild malts. Jammy undertone. Semi dry finish. All right.

22 ounce bottle. Amber to light brown color topped by a small foamy beige head. Aroma of toasted malt with hints of caramel, baked bread and floral hops. Flavor of more toasted malt upfront. Hints of brown sugar and nuts. Lightly carbonated with an emerging spicy hoppiness in the finish.

Bottle is notched 2010 Pours a solid black with a smallish creamy mocha head that sticks around for a while and leaves some spotty lace. Smells of ash and roast and a bit of caramel; not very inviting in the aroma dept. The flavor is roasty, smokey and again a bit ashy. There’s a bit of earthy hop flavor and a hint of burnt sugar and caramel in there as well. Medium body with a light level of carbonation and an earthy ashy mouthfeel. Seems like this could use a little sweetness to offset all the roast and smoke. This is OK as is, but there are better stouts out there.

Bottle from 2011. Pours a deep reddish brown color with a smallish yellow white head that shows moderate retention and minimal lace. The aroma is quite sweet with lots of caramel and brown sugar as well as a fair amount of dark pitted fruits and orange marmalade. Sweet dark sugary flavor is mixed with orange and dark sweet cherry and is cut with a touch of earth melanoidin and alcohol. Hints of smoke and roast round out the flavor nicely. Medium to thick body with a light level of carbonation and a sweet almost syrupy mouthfeel. I remember trying this fresher and it didn’t seem to meld well. With a bit of age on it this is a nice old ale.

Belgian Beer Fest Boston. Courtesy of Mitch, thank you sir! Sweet start, with a bit more spiciness and fruitiness than your average tripel.

Or should this be called Haverhill Intergalacic Acid, since it was not at The Tap? Anyway, it is a murky, opaque pale yellow beer with no head. Aroma is sour lemon drops. Taste is similar. Plain and very sour. The name is accurate.

Draft @ The Ale House in Amesbury. Bright gold in color. No head. Nose was mostly lemon and wheat. The flavor was a very interesting mix of tart fruits and a blast of salt toward the finish. The tart fruits worked real well for me. The salt didn’t even bother me at all and it was a nice change of pace. Kind of reminded me of a tart Berliner Weisse. The low ABV had me draining the glass real quick. It’s a nice brew. If you can find this, do order one.
