Bottle no. 88 / 760 @ weekly tasting shared by Joes. Dark brown color with a nice deep dark red glare coming through, average to medium sized light brown head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is a bit faint, I don’t get anything distinctive really. I must admit though, my nose has been off all night somehow even though I don’t have a cold or anything. Weird. Some malts, some liquor, a hint of sweet. Taste malts, sweetish lightly, a subtle hint of liquor, a little sugary. Hmm I don’t really get the high scores for this beer. I really like quadrupels, but -and I admit, perhaps because of too high expectations- I’m a little disappointed by this beer.

Cloudy dark orange 1 finger cream head. Nose is light and earthy touch of pine. I get a sweet taste followed by a high bitterness of English hops. Finish is a bit strange but the mouthfeel makes this beer very enjoyable.

Shared with + thanks to AdamJackson & tderoeck! Sampled draft @ ‘t Schooltje. Hazy golden, little white head. Nose is awful, urine, lactic, rotting, spoiled yoghurt. Taste is quite bad but not as awful as the smell. Tastes of spoiled yoghurt, yeast, rotting, bad bread,… Med. body. Awful just really with obv. issues.

Bottle . Pours unclear , rather dark amber . Good white head . Smell is ambermalts , grainy . Taste is bitter . The malts are exremely nice. Rather thick , sweet, natural . Bit buttery ( no dyacethyl though ) . Nice. Looks kinda simple ( bitter, ambermalts ) But is actually pretty complex and just very nice in taste .

Keg at Het Oude Schooltje, during the 3rd Zombier Anniversary, 18/10/14. Clear golden with a decent off white head. Nose is spice, citric peel, bitter orange, yeast notes, straw. Taste comprises apricot, bread notes, tangerine, spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Drinkable but lacks hop presence for style so lower end of the IPA spectrum for me.

Thank you tderoeck! 330 ml. bottle sampled @ “The Tasting formerly known as Mons RBBAG I (2014)”. Oily black. Thick syrupy liquorish nose, blackberry nose, sugar, syrupy. Taste is bitter herbal, vegetable roast, bitter, faint sour coffee grounds. Thick body. Tad too vegetable for my liking.

25/X/14 - 33cl bottle @ home - BB: n/a, bottled: 9/X/14 (2014-1141) Thanks to Jef for the bottle!

Clear black beer, small aery beige to brown head, irregular, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, caramel, alcohol, bit yeasty, some banana, fruity, bit sugary. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: pretty sour, lots of red currants, bit of a citric acidity, lots of alcohol, bitter hops, cocoa powder, more alcohol. Aftertaste: very roasted, pretty sourish, coffee, charcoal, bit thin, vinous, bitter tannins, lots and lots of alcohol, infected kind of sourness??? I like a little sour touch in my stouts, so I don't mind the sour hint, for now. But not sure where the sour comes from...

25/X/14 - 33cl bottle @ home - BB: n/a, bottled: 8/X/14 (2014-1140) Thanks to Jef for the bottle!

Clear dark brown beer, irregular small beige head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: bit chemical, rubbery, band-aid, mainly on pouring or swiveling the beer in the glass. After a while the aroma tones down and you get notes of some chocolate, red berries, mocha, bit dusty, smoky hint even. MF: soft carbon, medium body, nice smooth creamy texture. Taste: little sweet, sourish, bit peated (I don't remember, did you put whisky malt in this, Jef? ;-), smoky, some caramel. Aftertaste: lots of peat, smoky, chocolate, red berrie,s touch of vanilla, little bitter, cocoa powder, hoppy finish. Very decent.
