Had at the Harajuku Taproom. Don’t know if it was made at Baird or Country Boy. Medium brown, with a thicker, bubbly head. Darker fruits, some barrely notes, and some light esters. Soft body, some alcohol apparent, has a caramel, butterscotchy note. Comes across as a barrel-aged old ale. Bit more butterscotchy than I would like.

Bottle thanks to PhillyCraft! Pours clear chestnut, small beige head, dissipates fairly quickly to some residual and lacing. Aroma is bourbon, oak tannin, coffee. Flavor is kind of like watered down bourbon. Base beer just does not have the oomph to hold up to this treatement. Oak, bourbon, water, toffee. Light body, a bit watery here too. PVW sharpness.

Tap at Nakameguro Taproom. Big, whiskey nose that stands out but as it warms up more cacao nib and fudge notes start to come out. Fairly sweet and rich with lots molasses and some sorghum. Coats the palate and feels really well-rounded on the palate. Some light spiced cake notes. Vanilla and light oak comes out as it warms even more. Some toasted coconut maybe...slightly boozy finish with a really long lingering pepperiness from the rye. Very well done beer. Nice one boys.
