Can thanks to Josh. Pours a hazy yellow gold with medium creamy white head that lasts. The aroma is spice, clove, wheat, coriander. Thin mouth, light tartness, similar flavors to nose, clean finish, very nice.

This brew is a cloudy straw color with a medium thin white head that burns away steadily to a film. Spotty lacing. Aroma of citrus, yeast and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of mildly tart citrus, herbal yeast and doughy malt. The finish is moderately tart with a salty citrus and spice aftertaste. Decent overall.

Tap. Prohibition Pig, Waterbury, VT. Light gold. Thin, lasting, white head. Nose has bready malts. Some tangy lemon. Hint of herb. Taste is light dry. Some hop bitterness. Nice tang. Crisp, dry and refreshing. Salty lippage. Finishes lightly tart. Dryish close.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a glossy burnt hazy orange color with a slight transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising at a decent pace. A finger’s worth of white foamy head started and dissipated within less than a minute. Speckled lace sticks and then slides into the beer leaving a film of a white glazed head.
The smell started off with a crisp bitter to sweet citrusy to piney contour rolling over some light tropical fruits as it warms.
The taste was basically the same with more tropical fruits coming out and portraying themselves in the aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation feels good. The wheat does give the beer a nice feel to it reminiscent of Conehead but a bit lighter.
Overall, though I don’t always like to compare one beer to another from different breweries, this is a nice session wheat IPA just a step down from ZG’s Conehead. I’d probably like this more in the Summer, not bad not, if anything helps in the break up of the stouts of the season.

Sample glass at Growler Garage. They had it labeled as a black IPA, but I see it labeled here as a porter and the more I think about it during my tasting, I have to agree with ratebeer. I think the bar has it wrong, anyways, here’s the rest.
The appearance was a black color with a bar pour’s kind of head (rating adjusted accordingly).
The smell had some roasty chocolatey malts with some coffee beans. There’s a nice sweet chocolatey aftertaste running into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in the body with a nice sessionable feel to it. Carbonation runs good as a Porter.
I’d have again, good stuff, but not a Black IPA.

Draught @ Taproom no307. Hazy orange with small foamy white head, low carbonation, slightly salty citrus peel taste, medium citrus finish. More citrusy than bitter.

Hazy pale yellow colour, dissipating white head. Aroma of apples, apple core, cider. Light tart, funky yeast, cider and a salty note. Light salty finish, apple, cider.

Draught at Lord Hobo, 5/8/14.
Brassy-gold liquid shows minimal-to-no haze and has a small, dense, half-finger head that recedes to cover.
Vanilla, light pepper, honey, biscuits and some nectarine/peach in the nose are all quite tame. Malt is a bit dominant, perhaps, but there is no flaw or alcohol.
In the flavor we have a very restrained, slightly on the sweet side Americanized saison. Certainly not one of the big messy esters, heavy peach offenders, but it’s still just mostly earthiness, yellow fruits and some apples. A bit too much acidity leading to some astringency and a rather thin feel to it despite the sweetness on the end.
