Description
We, Sharp’s Brewery, are a modern brewer of cask and bottled beer based in Rock, Cornwall, and owner of the UK’s number one cask and bottled beer, Doom Bar. We’ve grown rapidly to become the largest brewer of cask beer in the South West.
Sharp's Brewery was founded in 1994 by Bill Sharp. The brewery has been through three phases – from a small micro brewery, to a larger facility within the same building and finally to the current phase that has seen the Brewery extend its premises to accommodate more vessels and increase its brewing capacity. Since 2011, the brewery has been owned by Molson Coors.

Cask at another pub by the Thames (near Lechlade) 09-06-07 think it was the Trout. Poured amber in colour with a fruity and malty aroma, yet another beer that doesn’t really set the pulse racing, yes it’s fine and is fruity and with a nice bite to it and would make a respectable session beer but aside from that I can’t really remember much else about it.

Casked. Hazy pale amber colour, small white head. Aroma is hops, fruits and some wooden hints. Flavour is quite the same, but the wooden hints are more apparent.

(Cask at Market Porter, Borough, London 28 Apr 2007) Copper colour with firm white ehad. Malty, nutty nose with notes of sewage and dusty hops. Malty, nutty taste with toffee, dried fruit and notes of dusty hops. A bit too sweet for me. Flawless, but on the boring side.

Cask hand-pump at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Golden colour with a white head; a dense, rich malty aroma; fruity and acidic in the mouth with a bitter, dry, almost salty finish. A well balanced bitter.

Bottle at Chris_O London bottlefest March 07. Gold colour with thin off white head. Some herb, some citrus lemony/grapefruit. Citrusy in mouth. Some almost bleachy aroma, maybe that was the herb/spice. Blond beer, syrupy and thin at the same time. Alcohol does come on. Not only has this dog died, but Steaming Billy and the black labrador at Rogue too.

Cask conditioned at the Rising Sun, Frampton Cotterell, Gloucs 8 April 2007. Amber session bitter. A bit of malt and fruit in both the aroma and flavour, and a pleasant bitter aftertaste. A solid beer whose rating was helped by the good condition it was served in.

Cask conditioned at the 3B’s, Reading. Bright amber in colour with a minimal white head; perhaps my mind is playing tricks based on the name of this ale, but there is a definite fresh salty tang to the aroma; taste is bitter to start but then becomes more subtle with light floral hops and an underlying malty sweetness; palate is once again dry and salty and reminds me of the sea.

500ml bottle from Franglais, Calais. This used to be one of my favourite session bitters. How does it cope with being filtered and pasteurised? Amber colour with lasting thin off whtie head. Candy sugar, tea and earthy hop aroma, but there’s not that mouthfeel of a cask conditioned beer. Still, I like the hop profile on this beer. Some brown sugar in the mouth. Sharpish herby hop on finish. But it’s pasteurised and it ruins it. Some choc malt.
