Located in the semi-rural location of Wakes Colne in the borough of Colchester, the brewery was formed in late 2011.
All funding came from the 3 founding directors and their friends and family.
1st February 2012 saw the first brew on the 10 brewers’ barrels (about 1600 litres) kit, with this being the beer that remains our best-seller, namely Colchester No1.

Varm mørk gylden. Filmskum med litt farge. Lett karamellaroma. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken tørr maltaktig med innskal av tørket frukt. Tørr bitter avslutning.

Cask at The Dove, Bury St E. Sweat oat and vanilla aroma. Opaque cola brown. Creamy off-white head. Sugary sout berries and low key bitterness. Medium bodied. Slick. Astringent finish. Pleasent enough.

Cask at Pigs Ear 2017 - Hackney. Pours clear yellow-gold with a creamy, white head. The nose holds biscuits, white bread. Light to medium sweet flavour with some doughy biscuits, hay, low bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Simple, bready finish. Ho hum.
