Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 24th September 2025. Hazy amber with shallow, yellowy white foam affording plenty of lacing. Malty aroma. Rich and nutty maltiness in-mouth, which goes on to dominate the early finish. A lasting bitterness develops late. Smooth mouthfeel and a medium body.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with minimal scummy beige head but good lacing. There’s roasted malts and dried fruits in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet and creamy but with a slight underlying bitterness. There’s a full bodied flavour of roasted malts, alcohol and liquorice with dried fruit and vanilla coming through later. Finish is slightly dry, fruity and very boozy. This is excellent – and dangerously drinkable !
