Description
Throwback Brewery is a small, inspired brewery dedicated to crafting delicious, farm-fresh beer & food from local ingredients. Our brewery and pub are located within a picturesque and meticulously renovated 1860s post & beam barn in North Hampton, NH. Our 12-acre farm- Hobbs Farm- includes a hop yard, young fruit orchard, kitchen & brewery garden, heirloom chickens, and a beer garden overlooking the field.

Given the greenery and peaceful setting of the farm, you would never know that we are conveniently located right off of Route 1 and less than three and a half miles from the beach!

Since we got started in a small warehouse space in July of 2011, our vision at Throwback has been and continues to be all about crafting beer from ingredients grown within 200 miles of us. With the opening of our restaurant in July of 2015 and the move to Hobbs Farm, we have committed to these same sourcing philosophies and love & care in crafting our food as we do our beer.
In our kitchen, everything is made from scratch using the freshest of local ingredients from surrounding farms and New England businesses. For example, the eggs in our Fried Eggs BLTs come from our farm, and all the bread is made from scratch in our kitchen using spent grain from our brewing process. We are proud to serve such fresh and tasty food (and beer!) to our family, friends, and to you, our great customers.

Cheers

Sampler at the source. Deep brown color with brilliant clarity. Earthy smokey nose and flavor with a sweet melanoidin malt character and just a hint of floral hop. A bit smokey for my tastes, but a clean well made beer.

On tap at the source. Slightly hazy deep yellow color without much of a head. Sweet bready malt with a hint of caramel and some nice pine and citrus to counter. Pretty easy to drink and tasty.

From my brother: pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate, cinnamon, other spice. Taste is chocolatey. Cinnamon is not too heavy up in there. Mild heat at the finish from the pepper. Not bad.

Sampled at the source last night. From notes: amber in color, thin lasting head. Aroma is mild toffee, hint of citrus.

Mild bread base with a mild rye component. The rue doesn’t show me any spice. The flavor is typical of an ESB. Lighter body with a easy level of carbonation. If you enjoy the style, this certainly is easy enough to drink.

Sample at the source. Hazy brown color, aroma is malt and coffee bitterness. Flavor maybe has some biscut grain "pretzel" type hints. The body is on the lean side and overall more bitter then I was guessing. Maybe over extracted coffee bean.

4 oz. taster at the brewery. Clear red / amber in color with small foamy head. Aroma is mild citrus and light shades of pine. The flavor shows citrus and light grassy notes upfront with the lager yeast showing mid-sip. The finish shows grapefruit, mild lager funk, light lingering bitterness.

Dry texture with a lighter body. I like this more than the standard Hopstruck. Nicely constructed lager for sure.

Keg at Lui Lui’s - West Lebanon, NH. Pours clear, bright gold with a creamy, white head. The nose has pithy citrus, lemon peel, dried pale malts. Light sweet flavour with dominant flinty minerality, more pithy citrus, rindy bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with more mineral flint, faint ash, lemon peel. So so overall.

Cask at GBBF 2016, Day 1 - London. Pours clear gold with a frothy, white crown. Tart and citrusy, with suggestions of lemon and tangerine. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Good and quenching in the finish, with bright and tangy orange juice. Great stuff.
