Description
We are always busy creating taste sensations, always looking for improvements or new flavours and optimizing our beers. Our beer is pronounced, complex, balanced, often full and soft in texture. We don’t brew beer for everyone, we only brew beer for people who love pronounced flavours. We do this by constantly tinkering with our recipes in search of perfection, we want to brew beer that is considered legendary. One has to tell stories about how great the beer of the Moersleutel is. Anyone who drinks our beer must be spoiled for life and must want nothing more.

Sampled @ Noord-Hollands Bierfestival, Alkmaar. Unclear yellow color, medium sized white to off-white head. Aroma is awesome: heavily hoppy, fresh tropical fruits, grassy and citrussy. Taste lightly malts, a shit load of hops, tropical fruits, mango, fruit hop bitter, grapefruit bitter. If you like Imperial IPA’s and don’t mind a firm to heavy bitterness, this is one to try. Nice!

Bottle in garden in the heatwave, 26th May 17. Pours clear and clean. Aroma is sour, citrus fruit. Taste is rich, bitter pine, citrus, grapefruit, some yeast and a little sour. Clean and very drinkable, pretty juiced up.

Nitro glass @ Billie’s Bier Kafétaria. Looks wonderful, black oil with a very dark mocha head with different shades, pretty. Minor lacing. Nose is low umami, chocolate (dark), big slaw of instant coffee & fain soy sauce, mocha. Taste is mellow umami, basic lightly roasted coffee & zero vanilla, rather umami, nitro clearly helps here, making it a bit creamier but it still feels rather empty, basic umami, no complexity, zero vanilla. Pretty decent / okay. This is my 4th De Moersleutel beer & I still don’t get the Dutch hype for these guys.

Bottle from Drinks & Gifts, batch 1727 BB 05-2021, 37.5 cl sample. Dark color, short frothy fluorescent brown head. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate brownie, soft vanilla and spicy coffee. Velvety texture. Lots of roast in taste together with dark bread crust, which gives a roasty and bready bitterness. Well balanced, quite straightforward, good job.

375 ml bottle @ home. I intentially poured all the sediment into the glass to create the NE effect. Very cloudy yellow golden color. Thick, bubbly off white head. Aroma’s: resinous and herbal, flowery hops, citrus as well. Citrussy sourness and resin retronasal. Flavor has some fruity sourness, but also light malty sweetness as well as light bitterness. Medium bodied. Finish is herbal hoppy, just mildly bitter. Nice attempt at an NE IPA, but not quite there yet. Needs to be a lot juicier at least. EDIT: heard from one of the brewers that this was NOT actually meant to be an NE IPA.

Bottle shared at Gekke Geit. Black with small dark beige head. Lots of cinnamon, dark chocolate, coconut, light flowery, vanilla and what I guess are tonka beans, light perfume, light smoked malts. Bit over medium sweet and light bitter. Full bodied. Quite nice.
