Description
Artisanally brewed in Amsterdam since 2011.
Combining influences from the rich European beer culture with a non-conformist attitude.
From a family heritage of Swedish farm brewers and trained by the masters of ale and porter in England, we ended up in the Netherlands to create our own microcosm in the world of beer.
Inspired by the lesser known sides of European brewing culture and devoted to uncommon artisanal techniques, Butcher's Tears makes distinctive beers that progress beyond fashion and convention.

33 cl. bottle sampled @ Kerstbierfestival Essen 2013. Murky amber orange with a white head. Plenty of funk in the nose, tangy, sweet, excess of yeast. Overly heavy on excessive touch mouldy BE yeast in the taste, orange, sugary, thick, mainly just lots of yeast. Heavy yeast body. Pretty meh.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a dark mahogany with a frothy broken off-white head. The aroma is of yeast, a little raisin and some smoke too. The flavour is medium sweet light bitter with a spicy hop smokey palate and a long bitter finish. One of the best beers Iβve had from Butchers Tears. Nicely balanced and very drinkable.

33 cl bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Deep dark brown/red color. Off white head, not much retention. Aromaβs: dark caramel, sweet malt, sweet and light roasted retronasal. Flavor is moderate sweet, roasted, light bitter. Body could have been a bit fuller. Roasted and moderate bitter finish. Much more a bock than their Lipreader and quite likeable.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a hazy medium amber with a thin white head and lots of lace. The aroma is citrus fruit and yeast. The flavour is medium bitter with a sharp yeast hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Not the nicest bitterness Iβve had in a beer and for that reason I will mark it down.
