Description
Artisanally brewed in Amsterdam since 2011.
Combining influences from the rich European beer culture with a non-conformist attitude.
From a family heritage of Swedish farm brewers and trained by the masters of ale and porter in England, we ended up in the Netherlands to create our own microcosm in the world of beer.
Inspired by the lesser known sides of European brewing culture and devoted to uncommon artisanal techniques, Butcher's Tears makes distinctive beers that progress beyond fashion and convention.

Bottle 33cl. from friends, thanks folks @home poured into a shaker. Brilliant clear medium amber colour, huge frothy off-white head, good retentionand lacing. Aroma smoked malts, light caramel, grassy hops, subtle peat. Taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty, smokey, some toffee, some peat, yeast, light spicy notes, delicate retronasal smokiness. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, smokey sweetbitter aftertaste, earthy notes, well-made, delicate, good.

9 March 2022. At Hal 16 (Dok Brewing). Cheers to the Teamleader crew!
Clear dark orange, small, foamy, off-white head. Aroma of sweet whisky, grain, oak, cheese, bread crust, apple peel, candied apricot, plum, honey. Taste has sweet ripe apple, pear & apricot in a bready & grainy malt body, phenolic & yeasty. Floral hoppy finish with candied fruit & orange peel, sweet woody & grainy whisky alcohol. Medium body, thin oily texture, average carbonation. Rather sweet (totally covering the White IPA aspect) but quite the ride.

2 March 2022. At Hal 16 (Dok Brewing). Cheers to the Teamleader crew!
Clear brown, small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of cherry candy, burnt caramel, pear, red apple, dried banana, biscuit, liqueur. Taste has sweet pear & red apple, sourish cherry & malt vinegar somewhat, bit funky over a biscuity malt base. Herbal hoppy finish with tart red fruit, caramel & woody tannins, warming liqueur-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Bit of an odd brew but it works... in a way.

Hazy orange, stable, foamy, white head. Aroma of mango, orange peel, tangerine flesh, melon, biscuit, freshly cut grass. Taste has sweet mango, melon, bittersweet tangerine, a bit zesty too over biscuity maltiness. Grassy & floral hoppy finish, bit piney, citrusy sourish and adequately citrus peel-like bitter. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Not too bad, easy drinker.

Clear dark amber, stable, foamy, tan head. Aroma of candied date, raisin, apricot, ripe pear, caramel, sugared peanut, green tea, liqueur, vague milk chocolate. Taste has sweet date, raisin & pear in a brioche-like, caramelly, sugary malt body with a herbal note, phenolic too. Herbal hoppy finish, more dried fruit, syrup, some toast and warming brown rum-like alcohol. Medium body, syrupy texture, average carbonation. Enjoyable heavy sipper.

23 January 2022. At Hal 16 (Dok Brewing). Shared with the lovely Anke.
Hazy red, thin, off-white head. Aroma of red apple, pomegrenate, red grape, pear, dried fig. Taste has sweetish apple & pomegrenate; bitter grape peel & spicy clove over bready, biscuity maltiness, very lightly smoked. Piney hoppy finish, spicy with a juniper & red berry touch, very soft alcohol glow. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Subtle, elegant, only moderate in smokiness though.

Nice big stout. Packing a bigger punch than the 9.2%. Good quality beer. Not the most pure clean, dry and bitter, but balanced. Forders ams
