Description
First brewed in Summer 2008. Beers under the badge "Chideock Brewery", but coming from the same source were seen in May 2012. Brewery location North End Farm, Venn Lane, North Chideok. By 2014 the brewery had ceased brewing on its own equipment while seeking new premises. In the meantime it is believed that some beers are being brewed on an occasional basis at Sherfield Village brewery. In 2016 brewing recommenced at a new location in Devon. Brewing ceased again during 2020 with production moving back to Sherfield Village.

Cask at the Old Fountain, London on 23rd March 2011. Straw coloured body and thin ring of white foam giving no lacing. Rich strong lemony liquid and aroma. Notes of lemon-tea, honey and spice. Invigorating mouthfeel with peppery sensation before a citric end. Refreshing, not tasting like a beer at all, but a fascinating novelty.

On gravity at the Bree Louise, London 17/3/2011. Near black in colour with a slight,off-white head. Fruity, blackcurrant aroma with some roasted malts. Sweetish flavour, with plenty more blackcurrants, cereal malts and a touch of ash in the finish. Very good.

Gravity cask at the Bree Louise. Dark, clearish brown pour with a light film. Sweet, currant and grape nose. Definite blackcurrant character in the flavor, nice and sweet, with modest roasty malts. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. More roast, though mild, in the finish, with some sugars and lingering fruit notes. A really interesting, tasty and dynamic beer.

Cask at the ’Grape and Grain Spring Beer Festival’ 2011. In the wise words of Messrs Clapton, Bruce and Baker this was a Straaaange Brew. Light amber pour with a white head. The ginger and chilli invade the nasal passages straight away tried to find something else in there, coriander perhaps? Maybe some cloves and cardamom too. Spicy, HOT!! flavours. lots of ginger, and throat roasting chilli. Spicier than a couple of hot lesbians getting it on finish. Weird!!

Gravity at the Grape and Grain Spring Beer Festival 2011. It pours golden yellow with a thin white head. The nose is pepper, chilli, farmyard, cheese, floral, blutack and some caramel. The taste is lots of pepper, red chilli, a little ginger, pine, lemon fairy liquid, grass and hay. The finish is kind of soapy with a fiery chilli burn. I found it quite difficult to drink and the combination a bit weird.

Cask, gravity at Merton Winter Beer Festival 05.02.11 This was a lovely beer that whilst appreciated never quite got the plaudits or recognition that it deserved and yet when some tried it they stuck on it so taken were they with this. Pours golden with a nest of bubbles atop. Sweet pink grapefruit grabs you initially but this subsides and a little sweetness floods in before you get the crisp bitterness gently numbing the tongue, its not brutally bitter not harsh but really well balanced I rather enjoyed this and after a while looked to see that it had all disappeared, lovely stuff.
