Cask at the Pontefract Castle, Wigmore Street, London on 7th July 2012. Hazy straw-coloured with thin ring of foam. Hoppy aroma. Rich grassiness in-mouth, with fine grapefruit and a touch of nuttiness - peanut. Fruity finish with slight bitterness. Light textured mouthfeel and medium body.

Opaque black beer. Light brown head. Nice combination of malt, bubblegum and sweet apple on the nose. Palate is semi soft and semi dry. Sweet dark malt with unsweet bubblegum that slowly morphs in to something appley. Finishes semi dry and with more dark malt. Was really looking forward to this - a Cider Brandy barrel beer! The reality is the flavour is mostly malt and bubblegum. Decent enough.

Bottle, Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. As Northern Star. Light clear gold pour with a nice plump off white head. Aroma was an intriguing mish mash of farmyard, yeast, tropical fruit and grassy hop. Fairly lively carbonation. Plenty of citrus and earthy hop character in the flavour. Good balance Steadily building bitter linger. Quality beer.

On tap @ the Haymarket. Pours blonde with a proportionate head. The nose is of pine and tangerine. The taste is of sweet meadow floors. The palate is medium bodied and medium textured with a clean finish. Overall, a nice pale ale.

Hazy gold beer. Slightly soft palate. Fairly bitter hops immediately make their presence known. Mild malt and then a little sweet pineapple peeping through the bitter hops. Finishes dry and bitter. Too much bitterness and not enough fruit from the hops.

Opaque black beer. Soft palate, a tad dry and just moderate carbonation. Rich dark malt with a mild toast. Tangy start blossoms in to a sweetish mid with banana and bubblegum esters. Finishes soft with mild hop bitterness. Dry finish with toasted malt aftertaste.

9.5%. Cloudy amber brown beer. Slightly dry palate. Wow! Finally an English beer with real balls!! Rich rich salty malt with plenty of hops making their presence felt as well. The malt is also creamy and the hops well integrated. Really comes over as a Barleywine but who cares - it’s English and full of flavour! Whoo Hooo!

Can. Light haze on this gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Airy palette, mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Smooth malts, a light creamy sweetness. Good orange and orange peel. Light hop spice. Mild mango. Slightly tangy pine. Light crisp finish. Seems like a very different beer from 2009, much lighter and much more modern.
