Description
The Brooklyn Brewery started with a dream to return brewing to Brooklyn, once a powerhouse of American beer production. Today our beers travel to more than half the United States and over thirty countries. Our James Beard Award-winning Brewmaster Garrett Oliver and his team brew everything from classic styles to bold experiments and collaborate with brewers, innovators and artists from around the globe. We’ve met wonderful people in remarkable places, and we can’t wait to show everyone what’s next.

In 2016, Brooklyn Brewery sold 24.5 percent to Kirin, Japan’s second-biggest brewer. The partnership allowed Brooklyn Brewery to use Kirin’s distribution arm to sell in Japan and Brazil.

The woman working the taps at the brewery called this an "experimental" brew that was "kind of like an IPA, but with eight percent alcohol" - I figured entering it as an american strong ale was a safe bet - aroma of hops and cotton candy - a hint of wood - quite a woody flavor, with not nearly as many hops as I expected - a lot of background, candy-like sweetness (perhaps some belgian sugars and/or yeast were used in this) - sweetness eventually disappears, and a very gentle, almost tart characteristic arrives on the palate, complimenting what little hops remain - not too bad, but not very well-defined or "stand-out" either.

355 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. Deep brown colour, large light tan head. Pleasant aroma of dark and dried fruits and caramel, hints of chocolate, tobacco, oak and leather. Nice malty and nutty flavour with some caramel but not too sweet, well balanced with sufficient hops, hints of spices. Easy drinking, refreshing, decent mouthfeel. Moreish.

355 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. Amber colour, large foamy head. Very nice flowery and fruity sweet aroma. Flavour is somewhat less interesting, some toffee, nuts and dusty hops. Bitter finish.

Bottle. Primarily clove aroma with banana, apple and wheat also - a bit sour smelling. Slightly cloudy bright orange yellow color wtih small head. Strong sweet clove flavor primarily - fruity flavor primarily apple. Decent body. A very good American Weizen - I not a big fan of the strong clove flavor but I consider it as good or better than 75% of German Hefes.

Bottle, 2004
Pine, honey and sweet fruityness (peach) in the aroma. Chestnut colouring, low tanned head. Nutty and dry wooden base flavor, fruit (peach, tropical) slightly dusty yet plentifull hops. Dry mouthfeel, good burn. Sherrylike wooden aftertaste.
2001 vintage bottle:Wooden oxidized flavor, oily mouthfeel - did not age favorably.

I am not a big pilsner fan. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a pale yellow color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is lightly hoppy and has a faint citrus undertone. The flavor is light and crisp malts with a hint of citrus underneath. Not too bad for a pils.

Cask at Blind Tiger - an off-balance bitter at best, because bitterness is about all you’ll find in this beer, a metallic kind of bitterness that reminds one of sucking on a penny - there really isn’t any grainy malt to counteract this as you might find in most bitters, especially British ones - thin and watery - uninspired.

A bit overly sweet, with a big bubblegum-like flavor that I tend to notice in some scotch ales that always puts me off - lots of dark fruits like plum and raisin - a bit thin, especially in the finish.
