Description
The Gueuzerie Tilquin began operations in February 2009. It was 12 years that a new gueuze-producer had emerged in Brabant (the previous was Geuzestekerij De Cam in Gooik, which began in 1997).

The Gueuzerie Tilquin is the first gueuze blendery in Wallonia. The company is located in Bierghes (Rebecq), 200 meters from the linguistic border, and is directed by Pierre Tilquin. Pierre is bio-engineer and holder of a PhD in statistical genetics. He then followed an intensive course in brewing science in Leuven, and he had his experience at the brewery Huyghe (Melle), 3 Fonteinen (Beersel) and Cantillon (Anderlecht).

Tap at the 20th Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation. It pours light amber, with no head or carbonation. The nose is sweet apple, white sugar, caramel and melon. The taste is sweet apple, peach, apricot, red grape, melon, farmyard, with a sweet tea finish. A fairly simple faro (but please note I am not a great fan of this style).

Tap at the 20th Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation. It pours slightly hazy golden yellow, with no head or carbonation. The nose is sweet white grape, apricot, peach and floral. The taste is initially tart: sour white grape and apricot, then light grass, hay, farmyard and peach, with a short dry finish. A decent unblended lambic, but not amazing.

02/06/2011 37.5cl bottle @ Klaas' place - BB: 22/12/2020 (2011-248) Thanks to John for sharing the bottle!

Pretty cloudy light orange beer, practically no head. Aroma: lemons and lime, typical bretta nose, basement. MF: little carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty sour start, lemony and bretts, pretty surprisingly bitter touch also. Aftertaste: sour, orange peel and zest bitterness. Not bad. Maybe a bit young still. Time will tell.

Draught at the blendery´opening day, 4.8% version. Bright cloudy yellowish gold, large white head, solid lacing. Aroma of dusty lemon, peach, pear, sweat. Taste has grapefruit and lemon, lots of carbonation. Not very complex, but tasty and has lots of potential with a bit of age. Always good to see a new blender, the first in a decade, since De Cam. Next years blend will have 1, 2 and 3 year old lambics? this one has 1 and 2.

From the oak barrel at opening day, and at the Weekend of spontaneous Fermentation. This is a blended lambic (assemblage) of Boon, Cantillon, Girardin and Lindemanns. Cloudy, variegated golden brown color, no head. Aroma of dusty lemons and apple skins. Nicely sour and dry with dusty grapefruit, lemon and apple skins. Second best lambik of the festival.

draft@WoSF 2011: cloudy orange with no head, smell is pretty standard sour limbic smell, taste is sour with hints of white wine & sweet lemon, leaves a slight acid taste in your mouth, compared to others of its kind, it had a touch of sweetness to it, sweet lemon being the best description for it really, slightly watery but not necessarily in a bad way, light body & flat, very nice overall

Bottle slightly before official release. Clear golden with white head. Tart, slightly yeasty aroma. Tart flavor of grapefruit, blood orange and a hint of peach past the sour side. Mild acid but balanced with light carbonation. Good example of the style.
