Description
Firestone Walker Brewing Company began innocently enough: two brothers-in-law—Adam Firestone and David Walker—debating the subject of good and bad beer. Their search for a decent local ale finally led them to brew their own starting in 1996. The original Firestone Walker brewery was located in a converted shed on the family vineyard, where they experienced no shortage of trials and tribulations. From these humble beginnings was born one of the world’s most decorated breweries.

At Firestone Walker, Beer Before Glory is our mantra for reminding ourselves we do what we do because of the beer. Period. It’s our battle cry to never accept well enough. It’s the high aim for a perfect beer we will never make. Beer Before Glory is our craft, ever honed on the stone of humility.

12 oz bottle from Firestone online ( before they required a Brewmaster’s Collective membership this fall and lost at least a $1000 per year in purchases). Still great beer but I won’t buy near as much if I have to drive 2 hours to Paso Robles, so only an occasional purchase when I go to the coast)

12oz bottle from Tavour. Silky black pour, ring of beige head. Aroma is chocolate, notes of orange, sweet. Taste follows with a real chocolate orange vibe, my favorite holiday treat. Sweet, roasty, woody and packing a punch.

Bottle drunk 11/16/25, as pictured.
Hmm, at first this seems to be the bees knees. Big Weller pepper, lead and sweet, nutty wheat with lingering sweet Heaven Hill and big spice. No booze, no excessive sugar. Cherry, vanilla, mild chocolate and fudge.
Over carbonated and bready, but still exhibiting soft malty, rich caramel, chocolate, vanilla and with peppery bourbon. Not as much as the nose, but still reasonable. Bit of chewy, nutty, bland something with breadiness and light pepper lingering. Doesn't quite seal the deal from the nose but it's still very well-done.

12 oz. can. Pours a clear, golden color, with a big, foamy, white head. The aroma is caramel, apple, cardamom, and crackers. Sweet and yeasty, with a light, musty bitterness. Light, sticky, and biting. Fair and easy.
