2024 12oz bottle drunk 4/14/26.
Rich and nutty rye is immediately apparent, particularly notable for the lack of sweetness as compared to bourbon. But still a nice spiciness, light lead, some bread and light chocolate. Malts a bit more timid, but it's a nice change-of-pace from a glass of thick fudge. No alcohol noted. Lingering fruitiness.
Oh boy, that is something. Rich, rich, leathery, leaden, nutty, spicy rye is front-and-center and supported by a gently syrupy-chewy texture that is rich and deep but not too sweet. Touch of char, tons of spice, dry chocolate and deep licorice-like rye for days. No alcohol is apparent, but it's certainly warming at this size.
Maybe a bit lacking in complexity overall, but the rye character is absolutely lovely.

500mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small tan head. Nose is full of the beechwood-smoked malt, toasted bread, and soft oaky bourbon. Flavour is elegant and refined, with a wonderful smoked malt character, expressed beautifully by the bourbon, gentle sugars, and toasted malt. Well-balanced, subtle yet elegant and complex. Excellent.

Dark brown. On the nose, it's quite smokey, figs, maybe walnuts, fruitcakey sort of notes. The palate is quite smokey, intensely so, with again that more figgy accent and a rich golden syrup. Intense, lots going on, but I'm digging the fact that this is maybe the strongest, richest smoked beer I've had...comes across a bit like a single-digit batch of Adam.

500mL bottle. Pours nearly black with a beige head. Lovely peat smoke followed by roasted malts and bourbon on the nose. Flavour has prominent, yet fairly gentle smoked wood character, roasted malts, and charred bourbon barrels. Very well-calibrated, malts are well-represented for a porter and the barrels are on point. The light, woody smoke permeates the nose and palate. Fantastic.

After the horror of the beer selection in Las Vegas (how do people drink that rubbish) this was quite literally a glass of beer given to a man lost in a desert. Had this alongside fish and chips on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. Lovely and opaque and a good and clean drinking murky IPA. Not a huge amount on interest but Lovely.

Bottle at home shared with Laura. Red-brown color, virtually no head. Aroma is malts, lime and mint. Flavor is malts, lime, ginger as well but lime is more profoundly there, with a bourbon touch in the background. A bit boozy notes. A bit thin bodied. Hmm I think, for people who love lime and ginger this is a perfect brew, but that's not really my thing so not that good for me personnalt, but I think it actually is a pretty good brew.

Bottle from my cellar. Inky black pour, small foamy beige head settles out to thin ring. Boozy, warm aroma with notes of chocolate. Taste is sweet with a huge boozy kick, roasty, chocolate. Lingering heat. 4 years have been kind to this beer.
