Description
Founded in Herefordshire.
Pressed, fermented, and bottled in Gloucestershire.
Dunkertons history reaches back to 1980 when Ivor and Susie Dunkerton made the decision to escape London and buy a small holding in Pembridge, Herefordshire. They realised that with such a small amount of land they needed to specialise in some form of agriculture and spotted that traditional cider making presented a fantastic opportunity.
In 2014 Ivor and Susie passed Dunkertons to their son Julian and his business partner Bean.
In 2016 the production business relocated to our new state of the art cidery at Dowdeswell Park, Cheltenham.

330ml can from Westhill Service Station. It pours cloudy golden with a fizzy dissipating white head. The aroma is ripe, juicy, tangy and funky, ripe bitter - sweet apple, crispy, apple skin, apple tangy, white wine, sherbet and refreshers. The taste is quite crispy initially, bitter - sweet, juicy, crunchy fresh apple, vibrant apple character, apple tango, sherbet, refreshers, minerality, tangy, touch of apple skin, melon, white grape, hit of leathery tannin and some alcohol with a dry, tangy finish. Medium body and moderate, effervescent carbonation. Fun stuff. Nice winey character.

Flavour is composed of semi sweet, brown sugars, mealy apple, light spice, smooth, hint of smoke phenol. Palate is semi sweet, still, light tang. Decent character.

500ml bottle from Appalachian. Tasty Bev pint glass @home. Gold, bit of haze, bubbly. Smells of fermenting mulch, old frying oil & barn-y French cider. Taste is old, oxidized, bittersweet apples & satisfying hard English water that binds it all. Super tannic, mineral-y, taught, moderately acidic, pear-like stone-y apples. Mild sulfites, mild headache. Varnished, old vat finish. Thin, low perceived abv, more acidic than I realized. Carbonation is just right. The apples really seem slightly rotty, but the process seems to make an above average beverage. Average apples, Good slurping.
